How much is enough? When do you say I have enough?

Ok guys serious questions here. When do you say that you have enough AR, AK, long guns, pistols or shotguns? I am really curious about the AR and AK part. I have 4 AK and 5 AR that are built, one AR build and 4 more stripped AR lowers. So when do you say that you have enough? How many is enough? I am seriously pondering this question. I know we all joke and say that you can’t have too many but at some point or level you have to say that you have enough. I enjoy the builds but I can’t just keep building along and along.

I wonder that all the time. I have 12 complete AR’s, 6 lowers, I really do not need anymore it’s a want thing. Been doing more ammo lately. I think probably 4 would be a good number. 5.56, 7.62x39, 9mm, 22LR and maybe AR10 308 if someone is looking for SHTF things

I liked the I built something, take to the range sighted in and felt a great sense of accomplishment. Now a lot of them get out of safe rarely.

Only one AK. and I cannot stand to shoot it.

I got my first can and now I feel like it’s opened the doors to guns I otherwise wasn’t in a hurry to purchase.

I don’t have many guns - 5 handguns, 1 AR, 1 shotgun and 2 .22LR rifles.

Would like to get a 300 blackout and a fun lever gat to round off the “current” collection.

It’s just hard to fit gun buying in between car parts buying… lol

I don’t have an answer…but I’d like to thank you guys…I mean you make me feel WAY better about my inventory and purchasing!!

I’m more in line with Sean…

Oh man, I may need to seek help. LOLOLOL

I don’t have a lot of firearms but I enjoy the ones I do have. What I want to focus on now is just focusing on thing I think I’ll really like. If I don’t buy another I still feel like I’ll be happy with what I have.

I guess it depends where your preferences lie. I’ve never been a huge AR guy, they just don’t get my juices flowing like other guns do. I have a lineup of them, but they were mostly bought or built for purpose as opposed to joy. Have a .22LR, three 5.56s, and a .308. Of the 5.56s, one is a generic S&W M&P II with a basic 16” barrel. I built another with an 18” stainless heavy profile for precision, then one last with a 16” (including muzzle break) pencil as a lightweight build.

I feel like that’s honestly overkill. I don’t think I could ever get to the point where I have 10+ ARs. Maybe if some kind of crazy innovation comes out that changes the game.

I’m much more into collecting things I think are cool and that’s mostly stainless pistols and revolvers, sometimes things like the Garand or M14.

As it stands my collection is at 35 guns total and I consider that far more than “enough” and I’m at the point I only buy or consider building new things if they strike a purpose I don’t have covered or they really strike that “cool” fancy.

@Sean.psa I understand the car parts deal. My FJ40 parts aren’t cheap. I am doing power steering and disc brakes but even with a donor axle for disc brakes it isn’t cheap.

I have an AK too, and I feel similarly about shooting it. I don’t think it’s the rifle itself, it’s the laminate furniture I hate.

I love the look of the laminate, but it’s not a wall hanger and I don’t want it to be. I think I’m gonna modernize it with a real grip and handguard I can actually get a good hold of and an adjustable stock.

I’m going to need to seek professional help because I obviously have a problem, no really !!

I don’t know the Trump 47 lower from PSA had me building another. It was sitting there and Bear Creek had a 24 inch 6.5 grendel I didn’t need with side charger… That one got added to my 3 556, 350 Legend, 22 arc and now Grendel. I also have all 3 of the Ruger LC Carbines 5.57 45 and 10. Sigh…

3 AKs, 2 9mm PCCs, 3 300blks, 2 6.8spc, ar10, 5 ar15s (all different lengths), and at one point had 50 lowers, now down to about 20. 2 shotguns, 7 handguns, mp5, multiple suppressors…thats off the top of my head. Probably have more i cant remember.

Planning my next couple now. Suppressors are a buy for me now along with ammo and soon NVGs.

Crap I forgot about all the pistols!!more than 15.

Man you guys don’t have problems. Heck you guys are just getting started good. If we were all varying level of alcoholics I would be the one passed out in the corner with piss and puke all over myself.

Another issue when it comes to collecting is space. I have one large safe and another small 8 gun and I’m pretty much maxed out. I can finagle some more room, but it only makes trying to get in there more difficult each time I do.

Unless I happen to upgrade houses and can dedicate an entire decent-sized room to guns and guns alone, that in itself is going to limit my collecting (especially of long guns) to a serious degree.

200 guns? With mags, optics, slings, holsters, etc for all?

I can’t ever see that happening sans a lottery win or a serious sugar momma coming into the picture.

More than I need, but not as many as I want !

I didn’t just collect firearms but also all of the accoutrements to go with each firearm. I have a full collection of military equipment that goes with my military firearms. Just collecting firearms is like collecting rods and reels and no lures.

Very good answer!!!

I live in the northeast, and up here there’s a lot less gun guys than most other places. I only have one friend who’s as equivalent crazy as I am. The rest aren’t necessarily anti-gun, but they just never were introduced to it and therefore never got into it and don’t understand.

Those people look at me like I’m an absolute lunatic for my collection. I’m the exception around these parts, not the rule.

At least now I can tell them “hey, I know this guy on the internet that’s WAY worse”

I am more of a handgun guy, than long guns. No ak, couple Ar’s and a handful of shotguns. I am comfortable with what I have, more is always nice but the only time my wheels get turning is when a gun is a good price or good looking then I want it!!
