How to end crime 101

He said he would sign “Conceal Carry Reciprocity.” I guess he couldn’t sign it when he was in office. Oh yeah, that’s right Congress couldn’t get that done when they had both houses and the Oval Office. Whatevs. Sounds like a campaign speech. I have zero faith in any politicians. All of them. They are all liars.

Even the ones I voted for. I take them with a 12 pack and a fifth of well aged skepticism and doubt.

I don’t disagree with you @Yota-walker

He wants the exact same thing every other elected servant wants; another term. Regardless of whatever else may be truth or lies from his mouth, for me he’s term limited. Bye Felicia.

Here are Trumps points:

  1. Re-funding the Police, with investment in hiring, retention and training for police, including liability protection for officers.

  2. Local jurisdictions need to return to “common sense policing measures” including “stop and frisk,”

  3. Going after “Radical Marxist Prosecutors” who have abolished cash bail, refused to prosecute crimes, etc.

  4. Using DOJ/Homeland Sec to dismante of all gangs, street crew and drug network, including implementation of the death penalty.

  5. Federalization of the National Guard to be deployed into cities to “restore safety.”

  6. End Leftist takeover of Education.

  7. Protecting the Right to Self Defense / CC Reciprocity.

  8. Border Security.

  9. Bringing back public safety by “taking back our streets from the homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill.”

It seems like our choice will be whether we want to live under authoritarian rule by a Democrat or authoritarian rule by a Republican.

We have a branch of service that could easily handle both and it’s as if they are tailor made for the job. The USMC. But…Americans do not have the will and would view them as psycho killers. Which they’re not. So we are stuck with the DoJ.

I don’t think the country as a whole doesn’t want to end crime. Look at America’s voting patterns, who is almost always voted in office and the courts would be out of a job. Crime employs too many people.

This country could never end crime, we can’t control what is in people’s heart BUT it could be managed and minimized if those in Law Enforcement could do their jobs.

This country is filled with options on how to get stuff done.

Using the military for domestic law enforcement is not an acceptable practice. There’s a lot wrong with the current system but that’s not the answer.

Exactly. You give him all that authority you give the next one that may not think in the same vein the same authority to do the exact opposite or the same approach only to you or I.

It’s easy to get behind Trump and wave the flag when he talks about the need to stop crime – getting the public to chant for crime control is one of the textbook ways to garner support for an expanding authoritarian regime. such regimes prosper when the population is lured into trading away their freedom in exchange for the promise of safety. We should all know better than to take the bait.

From the perspective of Civil Liberty, I have some serious apprehensions about what he’s willing to do.

First, Trump has established that he’s willing to set aside the Rule of Law to enact policies that he dictates as being better than law. Example: Bump Stocks.

Trump’s edicts on bump stocks seemed more like the behavior of a Dictator than of an elected Executive. The ban on bump stocks is just one example where he set aside the RoL to impose his will on America. Nevermind that BATFE had already evaluated bump stocks according to the RoL (NFA) and determined that they could not be regulated as machineguns. Trump decided that he didn’t like them and he directed BATFE to ignore the RoL and regulate them as machineguns. BATFE complied and it took a trip to the Supreme Court for his dictatorial decision to be overturned. Let us not forget Trump’s great intrusion on our 2A Freedom when it comes to bump stocks. He’s not the 2A friend he portends to be.

Granted, this is just one case where Trump overstepped his Presidential authority and acted like a dictator – but it raised my eyebrows and made me aware that he viewed his own power as existing without being subject to the checks and balances of our 3 branches of government. the Dems seized the day in complaining about his calls to find votes on election day.

I don’t believe in authoritarianism. I believe in Civil Liberty and Freedom. Unfortunately neither the Democratic nor the Republican side of the UniParty are interested in honoring these principles. They are both faces of the same authoritarian expansion of central governmental power at the expense of every individual’s liberty. There are a number of things in the aforementioned video that give me serious pause:

  1. Liability protection for officers must be limited. If we allow unlimited liability protection for police officers then we lose the right to due process when they act beyond responsible behavior – and we end up having street judges and executioners aka Judge Dredd. We should not forget that we’ve already seen what it is like when a government provides full liability protection for police officers, and their actions cannot be appealed to a court of law: The Gestapo in Nazi Germany was specifically afforded “full liability protection” and their decisions to perform arrests and take people into “protective custody” were exempt from judicial appeal.

  2. Stop and Frisk is a blatant violation of the 4th Amendment. Anyone who is willing to make 4A violations a normal practice has transitioned to becoming a dictator who is willing to ignore the Bill of Rights. The problem is that the average person is willing to support “stop and frisk” of criminals because they never imagine that it will be used against them. It’s a slippery slope.

  3. I’m not sure what he means by “going after radical marxist prosecutors” but to me that sounds like open season to further weaponize government against political opponents. This is a horrible abuse of power and it needs to be stopped so that no politician ever abuses authority in this way. I’m against anyone abusing the power of government against their political opponents. I need to hear more details before I can give him any modicum of approval on this.

  4. Using DOJ/HSec to dismantle whoever he decides to target is dangerous. Everyone is willing to support this when they agree with the target not being them, but history shows us that once we have a crew of Schutzstaffel that are tasked to take out opponents en bloc, their power tends to be abused without limits.

  5. Presidential use of the National Guard is expressly prohibited by the 1878 Posse Comitatus act, which prohibits Presidential use of US armed forces for law enforcement purposes on American soil without the approval of congress. Dictatorial armies, the Republican Guard and the Praetorian Guard are expressly prohibited by the RoL. Trump’s 5th point is a blatant violation of Federal Law which would allow him dictatorial control of an army on US soil.

  6. I need to hear details about how this would work. I don’t like where our public elementary and secondary educational systems have gone and I’m a firm believer in home schooling to avoid political indoctrination. Something must be done to solve the educational curriculum problem, but making the issue a bullet point without explanation doesn’t really accomplish anything. It’s just a tug at our heartstrings.

  7. It appears that the Right to Bear will be subject to Stop and Frisk. As noted in Point 2, the illusion of 2A freedom does not actually exist when it is contemporaneously corrupted by a 4A violation.

  8. Nothing to say.

  9. Eliminating the homeless, the drug addicts and the mentally ill has been discussed before – incarcerations of deviant persons, the taking of peoples homes/extermination of the homeless and the execution of the mentally will were all part of Nazi Germany’s ethnic cleansing of the Aryan Master Race and the “Final Solution to the Jewish Problem.”

I’ve just finished reading a very eye-opening book:

The book documents the progression of authoritarian rule in Germany from the Post WWI Weimar period through the rise of Nazism. The parallels between Nazi Germany and modern times are chilling – it’s as if every leader of the G20 nations is following the fascists’ playbook.

Proceed with caution.

As if Law Enforcement doesn’t use military resources.

Militarizing the police is a blatant circumvention of Posse Comitatus. It has been done with intention.

I was wondering when that would pop up.

May as well be pro crime.

Many people can’r wrap their mind around the fact that once you have abolished all crime in society you have successfully abolished freedom. To have freedom in any society it has to be willing to tolerate some degree of criminal activity.

I’m a scofflaw – I didn’t bring my garbage cans in from the curb last night after trash pickup.

I can dig it.

There is a line of good and evil that cuts through the hearts of all men.

What I can’t dig is not looking at all options to manage or minimize crime.

When Americans are United we are effective toward reaching a result and strengthening our resolve.

We are divided by Politics, fear and panic. Like it’s driven by design.

I think it’s been like that since the beginning.

That same militarized police force IS being used in CA and other areas for the prosecution of otherwise be seen as gun enthusiasts in other parts of the country. JMHO. What I am trying to say is WE are dangerously close to being viewed as criminals. The latest BATFE ruling clearly demonstrates such.

Since you apparently disagree with that, why would you agree with using military personnel for the same? For the record, and speaking as a retired law enforcement professional, I opposed the militarization of law enforcement except the use of protective gear such as armored vehicles when necessary. I’m my opinion, police officers should look and behave like police officers, not soldiers.

The BATF should be abolished. It’s being used to usurp Congressional Authority.

I’m for abolishing the DoJ as a whole. If we as a society are declaring war on everything (crime, education, poverty, drugs…) let’s give it the respect it deserves.
