Jakl 2021

I know a ton of people ask, but given the lack of information since the gathering it really makes me wonder if the JAKL and for the matter the Krink will still come this year. Any updates would be great? Obviously holiday shopping is around the corner so trying to budget everything with good information if anything can be semi confirmed.

In the big Jakl thread Josiah said they are still looking at this year.

Since they had all this extra time for testing I am going to assume there aren’t going to be any bugs. Let’s hope they sent one to Garand Thumb and MAC months ago in secret so we know the design is reliable.

Let’s hope the lack of information doesn’t mean we’re looking at another mythical item like the PSA MP5. If I remember correctly, that was introduced two years running at SHOT, and nothing to show to this day!

Actually there has been a lot…it was at The Gathering and folks could test fire. Josiah has also said on here that it is still planned for this year. But given how busy the market is I could see it being slightly delayed if they want to have plenty on hand for when it goes live.

Maybe this has already been hashed over, but any ideas on the price? (approximately)

Haven’t heard a word.

If I knew one, I’d gladly share. I’ve got all my toy money set aside for when it comes out, otherwise I’d already have my AR-V built.

When they first talked about it (too early) at shot show they said it would be comparable or their higher end ARs. At the time that was extrapolated to mean $799-$899 but now it probably means $1200 starting.

You’re right! What I have seen/heard of The Gathering, was/is very encouraging. I just see the end of the year coming up pretty quickly, and seems to be no real info drop since March. I’m certainly not a marketing guy, but one would think you’d want to build as much excitement as you can. An update of some kind, maybe once per quarter seems like an easy way to build interest in a new product. In the meantime, I’ll be anxiously waiting for it!!!

Agreed. They keep saying they’re gonna drop a bunch of new products by the end of 2021, but that obviously isn’t happening. We were told 6 months ago that the JAKL has passed tens of thousands of rounds of testing but somehow they’re not confident that the current model is worth of mass production? What the heck have they been doing? Where’s the JAKL? Where’s the Krink? Where’s the 556 AK? They keep dropping products no one is demanding, such as Romanian kit builds and PSA builder kits.

They drop what sells…period. Their demand for lowers and build kits is out the roof. Combine that with a nation-wide shortage of workers, rising costs, etc. and we have what we have.

Yep. They can drop half-used ketchup packets and they would fly off the shelf. And as much as I love PSA, your comment highlights why the market and overall AK community sees them as a “quantity over quality” company unfortunately. But too be fair, I do think they’re trying to rebrand themselves and get away from their previous identity. Could be why they’re taking so long to drop the new products in the most demand (JAKL, AK105/Krink, AK556)

While those products certainly have demand, keep in mind that (I think) the majority of PSA customers want an AR or AK. They want a reliable gun at a low price.

What are the chances they drop it Black Friday?

I almost hope they don’t because my will is not strong enough to resist spending money i don’t have on one

Honestly I’m disappointed. I knew not to expect PSA to keep their word about release schedules but I hoped they would want to rebuild some semblance of integrity. They had been telling people definitely 2021 for a year. If I had put the $900 they guessed it would cost in investments back then I would have enough for a used MCX by now.

I feel ya. If my sister had a weiner she’d be my brother.
