Hey all,
I own a 300BLK and recently got a 5.56 upper as well. After receiving my upper I disassembled it to clean, inspect, and lubricate it before first live fire.
Instantly I noted that the piston is loose where it is pinned to the bolt carrier. This appears to prevent easy reassembly and makes me concerned about proper operation.
Thoughts? Should I RMA this part?
Contact cs and see what they say. CS isnt on the forums.
I am a new JAKL owner. It is pinned in correctly, and cannot be unscrewed, but it is wobbly. I own several AKs, and the 556 JAKL piston is very similar to that of an AKM . A wobbly piston in an AK is a normal thing, and may in fact be helpful in preventing binding in the gas tube. Yes, it can make reassembly tricky sometimes because we need to feed it in from behind, unlike an AK, where the topcover comes completely off during field stripping. I hold the upper vertically, pointing down, and I find it makes it easier to get it into alignment.
Hopefully PSA CS will give you the answer. Please post what they tell you, so we can all learn from it too.
