Kidney transplant 🤕

Well after all of my test at the hospital yesterday it’s now official that I will need a kidney transplant.

My liver transplant was September 2021, any organ transplant requires loads of anti rejection medications that can lead to other negative health changes. In my case they caused high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic IBS, all of which has taken a toll on my kidneys.

Most kidney transplants come from deceased donors and at the moment 90,000 people in the US are in need.
Chronic kidney disease is a leading cause of death and affects 15% of US adults.
11 people DIE every day waiting for a kidney!!
Please consider becoming an organ donor :folded_hands:

My numbers have continued to decline and are now to the point where I will be put on the National Kidney Registry in hopes of receiving a matching donor, the average wait time is 3-5 years.

Of course as my health continues to decline I will need to start having dialysis treatments, and hopefully I will be able to do those at home instead of in a facility.

The only problem I can possibly forsee with that would be a lack of space being we live in a camper.
I’ve looked into having a HE shed built to basically serve as my dialysis room if you will. I think my neighbor can build me one for a about $3000.
I don’t have the money but I can sell some more guns to find the build. Hell I can’t take them with me and I don’t have anyone to leave them to.
The ones at Lowe’s and Home Depot are ok for what they are but I’m going to need something more “liveable” considering the amount of time I’ll spend in it.

Of course the best option is to find a living donor and forgo having dialysis. I have 2 brothers with one being unsuitable do to his own health and the other has given me every excuse under the sun and finally yesterday told me he was out. My mother is 81 this week and not in good health either, my father passed 35 years ago.

My beautiful wife of 18 years has stepped up to the plate and offered to be a donor, even if we aren’t a match if she donates a kidney to the “pool” then I would be able to take one out of the “pool”. So one in and one out in what they call a paired donation. Pretty cool concept that’s been developed to broaden the “pool” of matching candidates. The wait time for this is usually only months versus years for a deceased donor. This is great as long as the donor is healthy enough themselves and pass all of the needed criteria. As far as we know my wife should.

So fingers crossed and lots of prayers :crossed_fingers: :folded_hands:
The good Lord has blessed and given me a life above and beyond anything I deserve and I’m thankful and grateful for all of my blessings.
I will get through this as it’s just another bump in the road of life but I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers please!!

And please consider becoming an organ donor

Prayers inbound!

Thanks buddy @AZ_Joe

Thanks neighbor @bonamoleonard

God Bless you for a quick replacement…
Very sorry for the brother that opt’d out.
Your spouse is GOLDEN!!!
Prayers up my brother :folded_hands:

Thank you my brother from another mother @19foxtrot

:folded_hands:t3: prayers up.

Thanks buddy @Rufus

man you know you have my prayers, and if i had been healthy id be on the list to donate. That is an awesome program about the pool, and your wife is amazing, as im sure you already know. What we would do without our wives I’ll never know. I’m sorry to hear about your one brother who bailed on you. Karma, however, will come back around.. it always does. please keep us updated, and know we’re all pulling for you and praying for you and have your back. Keep that positivity up man, its half the battle with these medical things.. you can do it!

Thank you GCO, you are absolutely right that a positive attitude is half the battle. I try to stay positive but we all have our moments and just break down at times. The camaraderie in here helps me to keep plugging along.

If it wasn’t for my sweet wife I wouldn’t be here now. She is my absolute rockstar!! And as of the last hour we have decided to give dialysis a try first and see how that works out before using one her kidneys. Hopefully I will get lucky and find a quick match.

Thanks again @GamecockOperator

That sucks man. Any organ transplant is difficult and it seems only through the grace of God

Peace be with you and Godspeed

Thanks dude @rockymountainjeep

@Jammo

Do me a favor and give Shelia a big hug and a kiss for me. What she is doing is awsome. It shows just how much she loves you. Jason you have been on my permanent prayer list as you know. I hope that a transplant comes sooner than later.

I have been listed on my drivers license as a organ donor for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately due to my health and CKD I don’t think that they would use my organs but the option is there if they would choose to do so.

I certainly will Greg, thanks buddy @1911

Wish you the best brother! Your wife is definitely a keeper. Small thought on the He shed, Pallets are plentiful, can often be found for free, and therefor can cut down greatly on material costs while being able to be used as foundations, walls, and roofs and basically allow for a mostly modular construction. Basically just need to level, weather proof and shingle or tin roof em. you can use stones to level and elevate it off the ground. Maybe do exterior facia and sheet rock inside no one would even be able to tell it’s all pallets.

I live by the mantra, look for the good in everything. Your wife being at your side, a positive attitude. Thank you for being an example of how faith can work in my life if I let it. Y’all are on my prayer list.

I have the heart on my license as well, not sure what they’ll take either.

I have the same, but my 10 year renewal is due and I will revoke my organ donor status.

I’ve lived a hard and very irresponsible life. I feel like they’ll open me up, take one look, and be like NOPE :joy:

Fair enough. I’ll save them the trouble
