Good morning y’all. Is knive packaging important to you? do you perfer a highend box? or is product price more important?
Depends on the knife.
Benchade blue or black box I keep.
Beater knives in the $50 or less range I dont care how it is packaged and toss the packaging.
JMHO.
Thank you Joe!
I like a box. Plastic wrap for cheaper is fine. If im paying $100+, foam is a nice touch. The reason i say boxes is in case of resell. Lots of chinese fakes out there, boxes help define authentic stuff.
I agree with @AZ_Joe and @GuitarGuy
Boxes I keep for bartering or last minute gifts.
I’d go up to say $130 or more IMHO ![]()
I like a box and foam for higher end things because it looks like the company cares about how their product gets shipped. in bubble wrap thrown in a lager box to get beat up is not the way to ship something nice.
sad part for me is I usually save the boxes for a while and after I collect enough of them that they get in my way I throw them away. living in a small place without a lot of storage space I have to be choosy on what I keep. ammo or empty boxes, we all know who wins in that situation.
If it’s collectible - meaning limited runs, not solely based on price - then a collectible box would be nice.
If it’s just a price point, then a fancy box is not necessary, just something descent to protect it in shipping besides bubble wrap in a padded envelope or box filled with paper.
Wrap it in toilet paper and throw it in a trash bag.
On a serious note. I wouldn’t care unless it’s like some sort of a collectable/commemorative/limited run type deal as mentioned above.
But the catch is I’m not a knife snob so I’d disregard anything I said because I’m not the customer base that matters.
Funny man

Please ignore this trick, it was already once tried on me ![]()
So from what I’ve gained over there years of buying and selling(had so many come and go before I was a maker)
Your more massed produced from over seas(not just China, but Italy, Europe) they usually come in boxes with foam. TRC is one brand that does it really well. Really nice fold over the top box, foam cut to form around the blade. They also cost $350+ tho.
Your more custom makers will go with a box, and they will try to wrap it in corrosion paper With a knife sleeve so it doesn’t cut anything. Then wrap again with everything combined.
However there is some that’ll just sleeve and wrap the knife then toss in the box and let it flop all over the place.
The only HIGH end maker that I know of that ships their knife in bubble wrap is strider which is disappointing. $550+ and it’s in bubble wrap?!?
Selling since 2019, I’ve had the chance to go above and beyond with packaging and I’ve done the bare minimum. Kinda poking around to see what’s best. So far what I’ve concluded was a box, no matter the price of the knife. Inside the box the knife need be wrapped up so it doesn’t move around or rattle, including a sticker is always a plus!
I’ve actually had some people give boxes back to me after meeting up with them saying they wouldn’t need them it’s definitely nice, because boxes get expensive ![]()
