KS 47 10.5" suppressor options?

Hi all,

I’m kicking the tires on snagging a suppressor to run on my KS-47, among other platforms. I’d love for this thing to be hearing safe while training/hunting/defending. Does anyone here have a recommendation based on personal experience? Thanks in advance…

I have a YHM 30LT that i use on my 30cal guns. I prefer YHM’s mounting system which is on the mount and not the can. If it breaks, i buy a new mount rather than having to send in the can for repair.

As for hearing safe, i still wear ears with a can, especially inside.

I use a gen 1 griffin optimus on mine in mid-size config on a 10.5 bbl. Never tried x39 subs so definitely not hearing safe, but it certainly tames the report dramatically. I wanted one can to fit “everything”, so I gave up a little performance for convenience. Probably would use a dead air can if I ever pick one specifically for it.

I’m strongly eyeballing the Nomad-L. Seems like my biggest enemy to effective suppression is barrel length…the Nomad adds a bit.

Everything is a compromise. Add the length, yes, but you get so much more internal volume for gasses to expand and slow down. It’s worth sitting down and just pouring over all the options and weighing pros and cons against your personal application for it. At least for your first. The next 7 can be impulsive

I am currently waiting on a Dead Air Wolfman (any day now!) because I wanted to use it on a 9mm gun and it will also work with x39 with the right muzzle device and the Dead Air QD. It seemed like one of the more versatile options which is what I wanted for my first can. Suppressor research can be kinda fun. My next can will be a 30cal. Its a tossup between the Dead Air Nomad and the Griffin EXPLORR .300, heard really good things about both.

I run the Wolfman on my KS47 and it’s been great.

Your asking a lot……for “Hearing Safe” Iam sure somewhere out there……someone makes a hearing safe suppressor……but I am not aware of it. If you reload, you can take your surplus ammo, pull the bullets and reload it with the same powder……I believe 14 grains……but double check to be sure…and you will have Subsonic ammo.
Even subsonic ammo is NOT hearing safe.
Just get yourself a good suppressor that you are happy with. Hopefully you will be able to use it on multiple platforms so that you can get the most use out of it.

On theRange….the suppressor is not hearing safe….but I hunt with a suppressor on both my 308 and my 7.62x39 and both of them Do Not “ring” my ears. I can actually hear the bullet impact the Deer or Pig.
On the Range there are a lot of hard surfaces that the blast is bouncing off of. In the field there are only soft surfaces that dampen the blast.
Suppression is very subjective with the immediate surrounding area having a big affect on how the blast affects you.

Thanks to all for the feedback- will try to respond more in depth later. Turns out back-pressure is a bigger (and related) issue to volume at the shooter’s ear. Thinking that the OSS/HuxWrx can may alleviate that problem.

I can already foresee the problem, lol. The Omega 36m would be great for my 9mm toys and my 20" Ar10, but not so much for my KS47. Sad that I’m already planning for can #2.

Are you able to comfortably shoot it without ear pro using supersonic ammo?

In the field when I am hunting
…Iam not wearing ear pro. A single shot or a quick pair of shots does not ring my ears.
That said…. I would never shoot it without ear pro …except for hunting in the field.
My neighbors have never complained when I have dispatched destructive animals in my yard at night……after I got the suppressor. Before the suppressor they were making inquiries about the odd booms. The previous owners of my home allowed a great number of animals to destroy the property and transit from the woodlands to the neighborhood.
The more I attempted to block their passage…the more destructive their behavior would be. Digging chewing fence holes…not to mention the super highway they had worn into the ground. The only solution was an infra red motion detector and a 22 suppressed rifle with a combat light mounted.

Getting your first can is GREAT !
One thing you learned from your first can….is that you need a second one :+1:t3:
It’s not as fun shooting with a family member if there is only one suppressor.
Guns are just tools. You need different tools for different jobs
Same goes for suppressors. You need different ones for different jobs.

If the wolfman works on a 7.62x.39 …… shouldn’t it work on a .30 cal already :man_shrugging:

The Wolfman is not rated above 7.62x39/300BLK. Cannot shoot .308 through it. Need another can if you wanna shoot .308 suppressed.

I think the front blast baffle isn’t designed for the pressure of a .308, much like a regular pistol-rated suppressor. Seems like the wolf man can accommodate the x39, but not the x51.

Look at “ liberty” their x-Finity.is 9 mm sized……but built strong enough for almost any cartridge….the list is too long for me….308 & 3006 are not even near the top of the list.
Since it goes on so many different guns……you really get your money’s worth on this one

Unfortunately, my barrel is too short. Thanks for the recommendation though!

The SilencerCo Chimera 300 doesn’t have barrel restrictions - might give it a look. It’s also rated full auto:
SilencerCo Chimera 300: Industry Leading Heavy Duty .30 Cal Suppressor
I haven’t installed mine yet because I’m still waffling on which to put it on. If I had the Jakl 300 BLK, that would be the one
