Suppressor thread

Here is the thread to ask all questions suppressor related. @SuperPredator and I are collectors of tax stamps, but so are many of our other forum members. Got a suppressor ?..post it up and see if someone can help.

This will be helpful to me as soon as the NFA is repealed and ATF dissolved.

Neither of those will happen. Lets make this an actual helpful thread and not a political one.

The only looser with that thought would be you!
why cheat yourself ,
I once feared the “list” concept but finally said F’it and just buy what i want now and could care less about the list etc.
Shooting is more fun that way

6 in the last 2 years and still shopping,
My neighbors are much happier now when I hit the woods down the street

SilencerCo and Rugged make some nice compatible products, Recommend both

So…you’re saying you want to “see our cans”?

No this thread is for questions. “Got a suppessor ?..post it up.”

That’s not happening anytime soon, if ever, bro. Go ahead and get in the game! The only regret will be that you can’t get them all.

Here’s my thoughts on general recommendations to anyone thinking of buying one. First of all, do it! You’ll never want to shoot loud again. As for what order to buy:

1 - Something practical. These things are expensive and for a first choice getting a broadly useful can makes a lot of sense. For a semi-auto rifle, get a general purpose .30 cal to cover 5.56 to 300 BLK to .308. For a PCC, whatever caliber you have. 9mm, 45, etc. If it’s for a bolt action , a direct thread lightweight can will be a huge improvement in quality of life for hunting where ear protection isn’t as widely used.

2 - 22LR. This is the way to Hollywood Quiet and by far the most fun.

3a - If you hunt, a lightweight direct thread for hunting, assuming you didn’t buy this one first.

3b - If you don’t hunt, get a handgun caliber with the booster, if necessary.

Everything after this is likely going to more niche or caliber or gun specific. By this point you’ll have made plenty of your own opinions and preferences.

I have a Rugged Obsidian 45 and a Rugged Oculus 22. I recommend both. The Oculus makes less noise than my Gammo pellet gun.

i like the idea of this being for can questions. good idea.

as for not being political i agree… although i also as you know am hoping for the end of the ATF or in the least bit the Tax stamp.

I personally have the need/wishes for the following cans, and im undecided as to which cans i want to buy as of yet.

.22 can that is rated good for 5.7 at all barrel lengths
30 cal can… was looking at the YHM R6 i think iirc…

So, I am in the middle of the process of the Trust I’ve established so my Brother and I can share cans. Any pitfalls I should be actively watching for?

You will both have to be fingerprinted and photographed.

I have a couple 22 cans but th Silence Co Sparrow is my favorite!
It is 5.7 rated and runs fine on my Rock.
I also use it with 17HMR and of course 22lr and it is very quiet esp on bolt guns.
Only 299 and baffles/core is made of Stainless steel so cleaning easier than some.
I have a Silco Hybrid 46 for use with 300BO, 7.62, 5.56 with ASR and a 30 cal end cap, works well and runs on my 45’s as well.
Rugged Obsidian 9 is great on the 9’s and also is perfect in short size on my 300 8.5 pistol with subs only though.
The rugged 9 and the silco 46 and Silco Octane 45 all can share ASR mounts and direct thread mount on the rugged and 46. sharing the extras save a lot
Good luck and have fun finding the right one or 3!

Oh, I already knew that. I was just looking out for “Gotchas” that will take additional time.

I decided to go with the Trust initially in my name solely, with he and The Wife as Beneficiary. Then bring them aboard as Trustees at a later date - so they don’t have to be Vetted every single time I add something.

All this stupidity over a Muffler.

that sparrow sounds like a decent .22 can. i may have to look into it.

These are the two I’m looking at right now.

I have the phantom 22. Great can. Not rated for 5.7 under a 10" barrel.
