Let's do a little fishing

Good thing we can run 40mph to get out of the wind and tuck in a cove…

Murray stripers?

Yes sir. Found a nice honey hole but all of them were right on the limit line. Threw them all back.

Save the best for last!

Never had Striper, good? Never did find a sweet spot for large mouths in PA, wasn’t anywhere near as good in the kitchen back then as I am now though.

Striper makes some great fish tacos. Beer batter them and fry them up.

Bones?

You can cut the backstrap part and basically have a bone free filet.

Nice!

Was out last night in the local pond, very relaxing. Smallmouth were hitting good.

My son FaceTimed me while he was fishing today,
He was catching a bunch with a plastic green worm and he’s learning how to use a bait caster reel.

Looks like Crappie.

I never heard the term Crappie until I moved down here. We called them them Sunfish or Bluegill depending on whether they had the yellow. Both pictured would be keepers if hungry, but IMHO that fish gets better the bigger it gets.

I have yet to figure out a bait caster myself @Coolwin1776

Same here I just stick with a spinning reel lol
This is what I’ve always called Bluegill or Brim.

Thumb burner for me? Nah…

Crappie is its own sub species. Larger mouth, very large dorsal fin, and usually larger than blue gill, red eared bream, etc. There’s a lot of different type sun fish.

Been catching, skinning and eating bream since the early '60’s . My mom loved to fish, and we spent the most of the whole summer in Alabama at my Grandparents house when I was a kid. My Granddad would bring us to a place called Pete’s Lake in his fishin rig - a 1946 Plymouth. He had also had a '62 Chevy shorted pickup, and a '65 Ford Galaxy. But the old Plymouth was his fishin rig.

He, my mom and Uncles had all kinds names for different panfish. - Bream, Google Eye, Perch, Warmouth, Stump Knockers, etc. My brother calls all of them Perch, regardless of type, except Bass of course.
.

They all eat good :face_savoring_food:

Headed to the dock

The heat whooped me today and got sick on my stomach.
Bad day fishing beats a good day at work, haha
