I might recommend 6.8spc. It’s a great round out of short or long barrels.

i highly prefer the short barrels for 556, the realistic range of use is highly achievable off even the 7" barrels, my favorite is 10.5. with irons im hitting everything 200 yards in zero issues. if you’re a scope sniper take too long to fire a round type then definitely go with the larger caliber for your long barrel. my favorite is 308 when you actually want to shoot at 300yards… i dont personally own one yet, but that’s what i want for my long barrel. probably my next grab once the ammo is in a reasonable range.

The “Let’s Go Brandon” lowers are perfect for the banned Russian favorites. Do a 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 pistol but make sure you get armor for your dogs before the ‘aft’ shows up!

308 isn’t what it was a couple years ago, but it seems to be one of the least affected calibers. I can still get quality brass soft points for 1.25 a round all day long and steel cased plinking junk under .60 a round.
I’m with you though, 308 is the tops. Sure there’s stuff that might pack a little more punch or shoot a little flatter, but you’re giving something up somewhere else and usually spending a lot more per round (if you can find it at all).

7.62x39 is amazing for a pistol carbine especially at 100yards in, demolished the targets unforgivingly…

Get 7.62x39 upper, 7.62 magazines, lower build kit if you’re building a stripped lower, and hope you get one that doesn’t require much or any buffer or gas tuning with your ammo of choice.
Some people claim they don’t have to do anything and their build will eat everything up with no feeding issues. Others have hell, but if they’re persistent usually get the issues worked out.

Just an observation, not trash talk but after reading all your posts about Trump, Biden ,and Cruz. Are you by any chance under 30yrs old, puff on a vape and maby even have dreds or a man bun ? From the sound of things, and I could be wrong but you seem more like an anti gunner at starbucks, sipping on a chi latte or pumpkin spice latte while packing at your laptop.
