Crickets up in here.
When I was stationed at Minot AFB , North Dakota from 1986 - 90, visited Nebraska twice. Stayed at Bayerd, (don’t remember exact spelling) on the North Platte River along the Oregon Trail. They had cabins, we rode along the Trail which was still visible (and probably still is) on wagons and horseback. It was cool. They fed us 32oz porterhouse steaks, baked potatoes, etc for $17. It was very inexpensive for the whole deal. Also visited Scottsbluff. It is very cool to climb. Also the Badlands and Black Hills in South Dakota is one of the most beautiful places in this country. My Rushmore, Crazy Horse monument, etc. Stayed at Powderhouse lodge for $25 a night and ate buffalo prime rib. Yellowstone in Wyoming, and Little Bighorn Battlefield in Montana not far either. You are in a nice area. I also lived in Merced, California for one year while stationed at Castle AFB. Went to S.F., Monterey, Sacramento, and of course Yosemite Natl Park. Been to L.A. and Disneyland too.
P.S. All those places are only half a days drive from Nebraska. Depending on what part you live in. Also as I am sure you know, you are in the best state for hunting Pheasant. Also S.D. and Iowa have Pheasant, due to the abundance of cornfields. There were very few Pheasant in N.D. they mainly grow wheat…
I live in Gering which is basically connected to Scottsbluff and i work in Bayard. Not much in Bayard anymore since they closed the sugar refinery.

@bonamoleonard I was also USAF at that time('86-'92) Spent my time at Edwards AFB when I wasn’t TDY somewhere.
Never new this forum existed, stumbled on to it when trying to find out when my order will go from Processing to Shipped.
I’m in Boone County.
Well, first off welcome to the Forum. I live in Meriwether County, Georgia now. Nebraska was great when I visited and drove through it. I flew into Edwards AFB twice, back in my B-52 gunner days. Also Beale, Mather, and I was stationed at Castle AFB for 1 year, until they eliminated the gunner position and gun system on the B-52 in Oct 1991. Retrained into radio maintenance technician career field.
I remember in BMT, they showed us a video they were looking for B-52 gunners. I almost bit on it, but I really wanted to do avionics. Ended up getting drafted into Biomedical Equipment Technician. Should have done the damn B-52 gig.
I used to live near Mather when I was 4 years old (Rancho Cordova). My dad worked at McClellan AFB (civilian fireman) lots of memories there at the base. They lived in the same firehouse with the USAF firemen as they trained the recruits that were always filtering in and out of the base.
I will always remember the F117 stealth fighter that did flybys right after the AF admitted that the aircraft actually existed. They brought it by for the people to see because they had involvement in the aircraft but were not aware at the time what exactly they were doing until after the AF admitted the F117 was actually a thing.
Cool memories.
