For some time now, I have been waiting for PSA to have some of their Custom Crosscut handguards return to stock and I’m starting to think that they are never coming back.
I would LOVE to have the 10.5” variant that is showcased on the 11.5” PSA complete upper seen here…
If at the very least, does PSA sell the barrel nut that is used with these handguards as an individual product for purchase until these products might become in stock again?
Is the barrel nut proprietary to PSA for their handguards?
If someone could confirm that the barrel nut is compatible/interchangeable with this next product? If the barrel nut used is the same, that would be a great help because I suppose that I could use the Hex handguard in place of the Crosscut handguards for my current project.
Barrel nut is proprietary to the rail. I havent seen the crosscut available for some time, both in store and on uppers. I imagine they have swapped to a different one. The Columbia store yesterday had mostly Sabre rails in stock.
I was hoping that I could preserve the assembly of my 11.5” PSA upper as much as possible, but it looks like I’m just going to have no choice but to remove this barrel nut for use on another project.
It sounds like the only hope I have of being able to leave the 11.5” upper in tact is to wait and see if I can get one of those 9” Crosscut hand guards with its accompanying barrel nut.
It is evidently clear that the barrel nut forming between the two are not identical. Close, but likely not close enough to be cross-compatible, unfortunately.
