It’s my understanding an indoor range will be opening soon in Madisonville, somewhere along LA-22.

There’s the Bedico Creek Shooting Grounds in Ponchatoula.

Sherburne shooting range in the Atchafalaya national wildlife refuge is nice. From what I remember, all you need is a fishing license, but the range is free. And it’s across the river from Krotz Springs, so go get you some cracklin and boudin before you go shooting, just be sure not to speed within line of sight of town as they will get you

Eunice Rifle and gun club, but its a member only range. We can bring guests.

Actually the best deal in a Louisiana range is the Honey Island Swamp WMA Range for $10 for a day. 100 yard rifle. Sporting clays. .22s at steel. Pistols up to 25 yards on paper and 21 yards steel.

There is also the LA DW&F Woodworth Range South of Alexandria, but I am not current on details.

Lived in Metairie from 1959 to 1979. My Brother lives in Covington, La.

Hunted in knee deep water in the swamps around the mid to late 1970’s.

Cool.

We have very likely bumped into each other in the past. Lived in Metairie during much of that time and about the same age.

As to the swamp monster, not too worried since I killed my first hog in that swamp in the early 1970s and have not seen any monsters there in the decades since. Will keep watching after your warning. :laughing:
