I have a ZPAP M90 and I really enjoy it, but it’s probably the heaviest rifle I’ve ever owned. I have arthritis in my shoulders and upper back now, so I’d like something lighter weight. Zastava has a rep for making heavy rifles that are indestructible. Are the AK-101s from PSA appreciably lighter and a corollary question, are all the AK-102s side folders?
I wonder if they would make the m76 again?
I’ve pretty much consigned myself to selling my M90 and buying a -101 or a -102, probably a -102 because it’s smaller and lighter.
But, it still makes me sick.
The PSA products are significantly lighter- 1 mm stamped steel receiver vs the 1.5mm reinforced lug Zastava.
Do you have a good sling? Your gonna be sorry.
I have an excellent AK sling, it’s a Blue Force Gear Vickers sling. Doesn’t help.
I don’t think all 102s are side folders. Easy way to tell is look at the rear trunion area on the pictures. If you see what looks like a gray colored tab piece on the side of the trunion, then it’s a side folder. I too used to be a zastava owner but sold my M70 to grab both a 101 and 102 AK. I never looked back. I’ve got 1300ish rounds through my 102 and about 600ish out of my 101.
Hows the wear on those psa aks ?
Are they holding up good?
I’ve got 1k rounds through mine. Front reunion looks okay. Bolt is moderately deformed and the carrier tail is significantly peened. So much that it’s rubbing against the bolt stem. But it’s been 100% reliable.
