Just here building an imaginary gun since I cant catch the Micro Daggers in Stock. I’m not a gunsmith by no means so this may be a dumb question, but would there be any issues with a ported barrel to match up with the dagger comp slides? I’ve heard mixed reviews on how much the integrated comp helps, a ported barell would have to be better right?
Ported barrels can be a good thing, until installed in a wrongly ported or unported slide. We have seen several issues of people blowing up their guns due to it.
Try 4pm est for the release times for the micro.
nooooo. so much the no.
The reason the comp’d slide works is because the pressurized gases coming out of the barrel are redirected at the comp. Redirecting them before the comp would tend to defeat the purpose. Then there’s the whole thing about the ported barrel directing pressure up and into a closed off slide causing much damage. You need a specific slide to use a ported barrel, just putting 2 good ideas together doesn’t always create a good thing.
I may not have been detailed enough, I’m talking about using the longer length barrel and lining up the ports with the comp slide of course.
You’re going to get gas into the unported slide area, which will put undue strain on the slide in that area.
So a Ported x-1 length barrel 4.1" with ports that line up to the Slide of a c-1 will get gasses in the unported area of the slide? How do other ported combos work, when the windows in the slide match up to the ports in the barell?
If, you can get the ports in the barrel to align well enough then it might kind of work but I don’t think you can do it and I really don’t see why you would actually want to. I just don’t see an up side , is there even a ported X-1 barrel yet and what would make you think the ports would line up with the comp in the C-1 if they do come up with one?
I’m just throwing stuff out there. Like I said I’ve heard mixed reviews on how much the comp slide helps, even when people are reviewing the p365 comp slide pistols. If i were to try it i would buy the longer barrel and have it ported in the correct position. If the ports in the barrel would significantly help with muzzle rise than maybe it would make the longer slide more worth it. Sometimes it helps to just throw stuff out there and talk about it. Plus I’m just bored at work and the last thing i want to do is actually work.
The best solution is to have a slide and barrel specifically manufactured together so the ports on both are a true advantage for the shooter and not a potential safety issue
Never shot one of the integrated comp pistols before but considering normal comps don’t even have a perfect seal, I reckon the slide comps will work just fine. If you’ve shot from compression before you feel muzzle blast all the way around a bare pistol barrel, so there’s plenty of gas that will get directed up and out the top ports.
Still probably won’t be as good as a custom/premade ported barrel, but you get a few drawbacks with those as well.
Let me clear this up. You won’t even get a 48 length barrel in the C-1 slide. Problem solved
