The KS-47 BCG, while called a hybrid is a full auto bolt carrier in regards to the specs that make it one.
Yeah, that is not an OEM KS-47 barrel. OEM KS-47 barrels arenāt fluted like that. I would say that you have a 7.62x39 built upper. For one the barrel, for two the KS-47 didnāt come with a KeyMod handguard. When you changed the handguard did you, by chance notice if it is, in fact, a 7.62x39 barrel? I ask because I have looked at a lot of x39 barrels and I donāt recognize that one. That also means that the feed ramps may not have been modified for more reliable x39 ammo feeding and may have the more traditional M4 feed ramps.
P.S. Good looking rifle, though
No I didnāt notice Im gonna break it down though, I thought that the built 7.62s wouldnāt work on the ks lower? Itās got a KS bcg
And yea my damn sights are on backwards lol thank my nephew
Did you have to file down that particular magazine to get it running ?
What markings are on that barrel???
It does look like a KS-47 upper. My guess would be that someone bought a KS-47 Essential Build Kit. That would give you the right lower, upper and BCG and then added the rest. You say it shoots good, so other than the oddity of the barrel thread pitch, I would say letāer eat. It is a fine looking firearm. Welcome to club.
no soary thatās a 556
This Man has the Right of it.
Oof!
Thatās a Problem there, Aye.
5.45x39 chambering, possibly? Otherwise, whatās the Point of building a KS that accepts AKM mags for feeding a heavily-tapered cartridge?
Yep, taking the barrel down to 1/2x28 sure does remove some meat from the barrel donāt it. Look on the bright side, with that and the fluting that barrel probably weights a bit less than the standard heavy barrels used and lighter is nice. If you ever have that handguard off, check to see if you can find a manufacturer name. I would love to know who put it out, itās a good looking barrel.
i have to agree. i think that barrel is not a 7.62x39 barrel, just by the side by side pics with the 300blk ⦠the 300blk is a 30cal bullet basically as is the 7.62x39⦠so the bores should be same size just bout⦠i think you may have the 545x39 ora 223/556
The first barrel comparison picture is a 5.56 and a .300 blkout, but the second picture you can see the fluted barrel has a much larger bore and appears to be very similar to the .300 blkout. Plus he said it fired okay, so he would have known if he bought 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. But first photo threw me as well, at first. I was giddy thinking a KS-74 build was in my future. ![]()
Some how I missed that he had already shot it, I just understand it was a work in progress.
Yeah, he said it shoots fine, so Iām assuming he has run some rounds through it.
Yea when I bought some extra mags I ran some rounds through each of them to see which cycled and wich I had to work onā¦Iām trying to get a hold of the original owner to see where he got that barrelā¦I know since it works its not a biggy but Iād like to know what Iām runnin ya know?
This Gunbroker essential build kit Frankenstein KS47 is interesting as hell. Would you mind taking a picture of the bolt face? Also check that barrel for markings as someone already stated. Typically it will tell you what it shoots.
People have successfully built 5.45x39 KS47s. Do you have a link for Gunbroker post by chance?
