New Charleston Store ? The Good and the Bad

Is PSA opening a store on Sam Rittenberg Blvd.? I saw an article in the Post & Courier, and also WCIV Channel 4 news.

P&C Article (edited)
A Columbia-based firearms and fishing supply retailer plans to move its Mount Pleasant store to West Ashley after buying a shuttered Charleston supermarket site. An affiliate of JJE Capital Holdings, the private equity firm behind Palmetto State Armory, purchased the former Bi-Lo space at 1200 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in October, according to Charleston County land records.

Channel 4 News (edited out their error)
[The Post and Courier reported] Tuesday Palmetto State Armory is planning to move its Mount Pleasant location to West Ashley, citing the owner of the property the gun store is currently renting.

THE GOOD: it’s only 10 minutes from my house. :crossed_fingers:

THE BAD: it’s only 10 minutes from my house. I am going to have to adjust my budget.

Also, if this is true, I really hope they have a range, there is only one range West Ashley and IMHO it really sucks, that’s why I have only gone there once.

Is there confirmation of a gun range at the new location?

also; when is the estimated opening ?

TIA --N.

I have heard they are indeed having a range. They were not able to have one in Mt. P., which is part of the reason they are moving as I understand it

The estimated opening will be February. Unfortunately getting a range at that store did not go as planned. It will not have a range.

Is the range still a possibility or have y’all given up completely? Could citizen involvement in the process help?

We appreciate it, but the range isn’t going to happen unfortunately.

This really sucks for me because the Mount Pleasant site was only 2 minutes from my house. Can anyone please tell me why PSA is moving out of Mount Pleasant? I have my guesses but I’d really like to know - was it the location (tucked away - not visible from 17)? Was is the cost of doing business in Mount Pleasant? Is it because of the high percentage of stuck up, snooty, arrogant pricks that live here? I’d really like to know. Anyway - best of luck PSA, I still love you. I will miss you in my neighborhood.

Probably much better politics as well.

I don’t know all of the reasons, but I know that MTP store was tucked away and hard to see, so less traffic. We also leased it. This one is more visible and we own it.

Thanks Josiah! Wishing you and yours a very happy and safe 2022 - Also hoping that PSA continues to grow and succeed! BTW- I’ve purchased mostly long guns and long guns parts from PSA with the exception of a PSA 1911 stripped frame which I built to completion… but I’ve got to tell you, I love my new Dagger. Smiles! - Rich

The new store is 300 yards from my house and I am counting hours until the opening, No more driving 40 minutes and I am a happy camper, checking the building renovation progress every day

Does anyone know if the Mt. P store is still open? Just drove by the west Ashley location and it’s still very much under construction: floors being waxed, wires being run, basic layout underway. Would love the ability to run into the Mt. P store on the way to the range this weekend

To my knowledge it is still open.
