What I’d like to see is a 14.5" variant with the short hand guard.

Am I the only person disappointed the 9mm will be direct blowback? I already got the ACR at home. Lemme get a Great Value MPX too. =(
Will PSA notify us when the updated handguards with the larger lightning cuts come to the 5.56 rifles/uppers?
They will be on the website listed shortly before they are offered for sale.
So is the Jakl-L dead? I purchased a KS47 lower to build up a JAKL-L. Is it instead being replaced with the Vuk?
The Jakl-L was a concept gun. It wasnt shown at SHOT and the Vuk may be the way they go with it.
The implication I got from Deskpop is that these will simply replace the existing uppers/handguards once they’re all sold. So I guess it will just replace the existing SKU’s?
I can’t tell you for sure.
I have a memory issue here, please refresh it, as i forget entirely what the jakl-l is? I too have a ks47 lower, but i was going to build it as a 7.62x39 normal KS series rifle.
i also did see that the 308 Jakl handguard is going to be kinda trickling down to the regular jakls too, changing their current handguard design a little… just what i had seen on a video yesterday
A 7.62x39 JAKL upper that was intended to be mated to a KS-47 lower.
concepts being concepts it is understandable that some changes must happen. Im glad that they are still planning to bring 7.62x39 to the jakl though.
i too have a ks47 lower, that i have yet to build out. if the Jakl upper is not to mate to that lower, then i’ll just build it out as a plain ak 47 carbine upper and then rock out with my ak mags on that so i’ts not a loss at all for me.
Man I can not wait for the 308 Jakl and Vuk! Bummed out I missed the voting but the bolt gun has to be the 3rd for me. I think the Vuk would be a huge improvement (especially in 5.56) as a modern AK variant. Well worth waiting for one.
I hope when the .308 JAKL hits shelves they make a TON of them because I have a feeling it’s going to be very hard to keep them in stock.

Now that we have a “Large-frame” Jakl being developed, I wonder how long it’ll take for a 6.5 creedmoor option. I would love to see a precision rifle/DMR-style Jakl, with ~20" barrel and possibly a precision rifle stock, similar to the old ACR DMR. I’d be curious to see how accurate that long-stroke gas piston is vs DI or short-stroke piston platform.
Amen brother. I think it will too. i think they will have to expand production by like 5 more factories. lol…
probably not too long after the 308… after all its just a bcg / barrel right? my question is what barrel lengths are they going to offer the 308’s in?
Hey GCO, do you think (or heard) if PSA killed off the KS47 JAKL with the introduction of the VUK? I was looking forward to a KS47 JAKL. It looks like the JAKL will be flagship firearm with all of the planned caliber variations.
well the jakl based on the ks47 was a concept. at this time i havent heard that they have decided to not make it fit that lower per sae, however with the arrival of the VUK, one would assume that could be the case. Especially if they decide that they’re only going to produce a JAKL in 7.62x39 as a Vuk option instead of a traditional JAKL. As for what i think, is the case, personally i would think it would be wise to do it still based on an AR style KS47 lower, for those who arent fans of the AK based look/weapon. that way you can cater to both the guys who like ak’s and the guys who like ARs but that is just my thoughts on the situation.
I know thats a convoluted answer for you, so the best i can do right n ow is say I dont know. I will try to get a clearer answer for you… i’ve got a meeting with corporate the second friday of February, and i’ll ask them then and see if they can tell me. Now, if they can tell me, it may be something i cant talk about, but if i can, i’ll let you know what they said.
if you dont have a jakl yet, i’d highly recommend getting one… i have the 5.56 in 10.5 and i love the thing. Guitar Guy has an 8.5 " 300blk, and he feels the same way on his. You may be right about it being a flagship firearm for PSA… I dont know if thats what they intend, but it sure would fit the bill.
I am definitely interested in getting or building a JAKL. I have a few spare PSA lowers that would be suitable. I will likely build or buy one in 5.56 first. Do you think PSA will bring an 18" or a 20" barrel version of the 5.56 JAKL to market? Thanks for sharing any insight. Its exciting to see some much innovation from PSA, and as an engineer I really appreciate the R&D that PSA done.
