Do we have information on if the following are planned or when they are coming out?: [sorry for starting a new thread, the previous one was outdated]
300 blk: 1/7 twists? P&w rifles? [The 1/8 seems like mistake since the versatility of the 300 blk is it’s main selling point and a 1/8 won’t stabilize subs well]
.308/6.5cm/8.6blk: are there plans for a JAKL Battle Rifle series? Will it be built on the smaller frames?
JAKL pcc: is there a CMMG dissent/sig mpx competitor planned?
I know the pistol brace rule has likely thrown a wrench in everyone’s plans including PSA, so a pivot may take time. Just curious.
Wish i knew, but my guess would be smaller frame calibers that fit on AR15 lower will come first, then 7.62x39 and or 9mm. 308win and 6.5 cm are probably out a ways, although 6.5 Grendel fits nicely on an AR15 lower (not that I’m on a 6.5G kick or anything ).
I hate to say this, but being proprietary barrels, I doubt they tool up for less common rounds like the grendel.
I just don’t see the point of x39 on a proprietary platform like the JAKL. The AK is already a longstroke gas piston with a large market for interchangeable parts. JAKL gains AR ergonomics, but looses the availability of (upper) parts.
Now PCCs and battle rifles are a different story. The bufferless PCC makes them much more compact. BRs (.308) seem to be the way militaries are moving and better for both hunting and long range shooting.
I keep coming back to the price. But I also want a 308 but in pistol form. But whether pistol or 13.7 pinned rifle for the money I can build one (PA10 pistol). In fact Im seriously considering buying a PSA stripped PA10 lower & parts, only since PSA sells niether a PA10 lower pistol (tube only) or a complete 10.5/7.5 PA10 pistol. I think both would sell like hot cakes compared to the Jakl. So here is the my question: If I buy PSA’s PA10 stripped lower, like a stripped AR15 lower, can I build it into a pistol? Or is the stripped PA10 lower pre designated a rifle only lower?
.308 pistols are a pretty niche market and most of us like our eyes/ears (so do the people next to you at the range). I doubt they make a JAKL .308 in a pistol.
They do make them complete for a pretty penny (not PSA). As far as the blast wave, certainly no where near a .50BMG necessary muzzle break or even an SFAR break. But to your good and considered point, I would probably add a flash-can to push everything forward. Actually surprised FTA hasn’t attacked flash-cans since they do a great job forcing the blast wave and most harmful decibels forward away from the shooter.
I beg to differ and I’ve asked 2 FFLs because on a PSA complete AR15 lower receiver only with a Magpul stock, I changed my mind and wanted to install a pistol upper. But on the paperwork recorded as lower receiver rifle. So if FTA runs my serial they’re go to get me for trying to convert a rifle to a pistol, a major violation. Now converting pistol to rifle is allowed as far as barrel lenth. Anyway why chance it and just pay more for a complete lower with pistol buffer. Why Im trying to bargain parts for an AR10 pistol build because complete pisol uppers and lowers are insanely priced. Why I wish PSA would tap that market with a PSA10 build kits, uppers and lowers.
“with a Magpul stock” made it a rifle, as far as I understand. If it were originally without the stock, then it could be further assembled as not a rifle (into a pistol), as far as I understand. I’m not a lawyer, nor a government official.
The 13.7 barrel upper pinned to an extention totalling 16+ inches makes it as a rifle upper. Personally I believe, but may be wrong that this current configuration takes advantage of in stock inventory. I don’t expect to see full 16" lenth barrels for some time yet, which is also what Im looking for to get more velocity 5.56.
I suppose since its a fun gun (somthing you want to shoot alot), So caliber cost and availability is the prime factor. For those same reasons, the jakl for me is still an X platform and a ways off.
Not to mention the KS47 already exist for those wanting 7.62x39 with AR-15 ergonomics. Or AR-15-7.62x39’d for those who want to retain the bolt catch/release mechanism.
KS-47 is awesome and it is one of my favorites hands down! Ive put off buying more 7.62x39 rifles until the price [of 7.62x39 ammo] comes down (or Psa makes it).
