Not sure how that math breaks down but hopefully Riton will make it good for you.
Is this your duty weapon if I may ask?
I will gladly pay a up charge if that is what it takes to end this nightmare of slides vrs cuts.
I wont say Riton didnât care, but they started asking the 9000 questions that leads me to believe, it isnât going to end well.
At the end of the day this is my fault for not understanding foot prints and different cuts. I can say that I have learned a lot and I will likely sell my optic on Ebay for about half what I paid.
I also likely will never go with them again, as I never got the âhey lets figure this outâ kind of vibe, but instead, I was treated a like person that stole it from dollar general and was trying to return it for money.
Thank you all for all of your help on this. Next optic WILL Be an RMR optic, just not a Riton.
If you want to save some money from buying an actual Trijicon RMR, Iâd recommend a Holosun. Iâve had many of them, and only one had issues on arrival. Their CS was super fast and easy even during shot show. Got me a replacement in under a week.
The Holosun HS 407C is gonna be the cheapest (for the quality). Direct RMR fit, solar panel, shake awake, cleaner LED emitters than most, pretty dang durable too for the money. Side battery tray, thatâs sealed. They run about 200-250 depending on where you get them. It is a dot reticle only, compared to the 100 dollar upcharge on the 507C for the circle reticles.
After seeing all sorts of other optics in person, I wouldnât go cheaper than that. I hard use my stuff, maybe not to military levels, but Iâve had other âqualityâ optics like Vortex ones get dinged and scratched front glass just from casing ejection. Sure they would warranty, but why bother if just using the gun damages the optic?
So did LawDog ever get his red dot mounted? Why hasnât PSA jumped in with help for his problem? I got a great deal on a Riton 3 TACTIX MPRD2, but canât figure out what I need to mount it to my Dagger. The Dagger is RMR cut, but the Riton is shield cut according to their website. Why such a big deal to put the two together?
Welcome to the PSA forums @murphy.dan38 ![]()
They are different cuts and wont work without a plate adaptor.
Because the customer didnât read and bought the wrong thing. There are a variety of optic cuts and footprints for various reasons. RMR is most widely adopted for full size guns, but itâs more annoying to make a top mount screwed in enclosed optic with that cut cause of the screw placement. Shield cut is nicer for smaller guns and allows for a top mount enclosed optic as the screws are farther back. Docter cut can in theory do the same thing, but many companies donât make their docter optics to the proper spec/optic cuts on the guns arenât proper spec so you get more fitment issues out of them.
TLDR. Read, and buy the optic that has a footprint matching what your gun is. Adapter plates in general suck. Donât use one if you donât have to. You arenât saving money to get a wrong optic on sale just to buy a GOOD quality optic plate that wonât fail on you just to mount it.
And PSA has helped. They have a stickied post showing optics that work with each cut for their guns, that users have verified. All the info is in the userâs hands, itâs on them. Itâs like asking why a M&P barrel wonât work in a Glock. Itâs not meant for it.
OK, what type of adapter plate and where do I get one?
If youâre going to use a plate, these look to be pretty decent. Thin, has recoil bosses, arenât $2, and have the threaded posts so you actually get decent thread engagement. Just be sure your Dagger is actually RMR cut, because they make a Docter and an RMR cut version of them.

To be clear I have not used their plates before, but it seems they have good CS, fitment is quite tight (a good thing even if hand fitting is needed) and are less expensive than the other big one, CHPWS. But it does seem their plates are slightly thicker. Doesnât personally bother me but it might for you.
Thanks for the help. I ordered a universal plate from amazon . If it doesnât work, Iâll try the one you suggested. Thanks again.
Yeah⌠One size fits all is not usually a great idea. Youâre better off getting a specific adapter for these things, especially as they are under extreme stressed due to recoil.
I look at it this way: If itâs good at everything itâs probably not great at anything.
