PSA 15 upppers

I am new to AR15 platform as I have always hunted with bolt action in 270 or 308. I was looking at purchasing the PSA15 in 16" barrel in 300 blackout to have a semiautomatic for nuisance hogs on the property I hunt. IT appears it would have the PSA 15 SC Multi as a lower. What uppers would I be able to use with this upper? For example can I use a 22 LR upper for my kids to target shoot with or can I go with a smaller upper for ease of carrying during the offseason while scouting the property?

Short answer yes.

You will be able to swap any 16" upper onto it if the upper is ar15 based. Tons of calibers…22lr, 6.5g, 6.8spc, 300blk, 5.56, etc. Not all those will use the same mags or the same buffer/spring combo.

Best thing to do is post links here to what you want to buy and we will gladly give you advise.

I have an AR-47 which is an AR-15 lower with an upper chambered in 7.62x39. Perfect hog medicine. I also have one (soon to be 2) in 5.56 and I have a conversion kit that will fit right in it and shoot 22lr. with a little adjustment to the scope.

I saw a KS47 a couple weeks ago at my ffl, he cerakoted it.
That is one sharp looking platform.

You should be able to use any upper from 22LR to 6.5 Grendel including the commie round (7.62x39). As GG said it will take some “tuning” and different mags to accomplish this.

Welcome Brian!
You will get some awesome input right here. I run 2 300 blk one pistol and one rifle both PSA builds. If you choose to build (or not) …as stated above BRD surely can follow.
When time allows there is several threads/posts about our experiences with a 22 upper conversion or dedicated. I have both. All of us experienced different results and for that my dedicated rifle with a 1:16" twist barrel is my go to for accuracy. Rifle upper was a build, pistol upper was bought from PSA(both) on their lowers. I started with a drop in CMMG conversion but accuracy was limited but fun. Do your research here like l did. I was new to the Dagger 9mm pistol and the guys here educated me in a solid direction.
If you build you will need the right tools. If you go “in house” assembly we totally understand. You will find the best prices AND warranty w/support here or on PSA web. Get ready, research, buy or build…BRD is gonna follow!

As an AR-15 builder and hunter, I have dropped hogs with one shot while my brother and his son were unable to do so, both using 300 AAC ARs!
I took my first deer with a 5.56 68 grain Speer boattail hollowpoint, completely blew its chest cavity into mush!
My personal opinion is a 300 Backout is highly overrated when I can do the same thing with a 68 grain or 77 grain Hollow point!
SPEED KILLS as one of my brother’s hunting lease owners told me wryly!
So until I’m shown otherwise, I’m sticking with the .223/5.56 platform!
That said, that is the beauty of the AR platform, as there are about seven different caliber uppers that you can use all on the one lower and magazines!
Welcome to the wonderful world of the AR platform, the little gun that could and will! :clap:t4: :+1:t3::smiling_face:

Appreciate the input and sharing all of your experience. I thought having the interchangeability was the case but I never found a document or article that discussed all of this. What magazines would you suggest for the PSA 15 in 300 blackout? Will any magazine work?

I have found Lancers work the best for me, and the 300blk mags like magpul makes seem to cause trouble. Regardless of what you use, mark them. A 300blk will chamber in a 5.56 barrel and makes for a bad day.

what. is the difference between these 2 guns: PSA .300 BLACKOUT AR-15 RIFLE 16" MOE 13.5" LIGHTWEIGHT HEX M-LOK W/ MBUS SIGHTS (SKU 51655157876 ) for 519.99 or PSA .300 BLACKOUT AR-15 RIFLE 16" MOE M-LOK W/ MBUS SIGHTS - 516444735 for 579.99. Im between the 2 and they look very similar. What do you get for the extra $60 and is it worth it?

The more-expensive one has a lighter front handguard - more material taken from it.

I don’t know if that’s worth it to you or not. Otherwise, they appear to be the same spec. There may be something else that I’m missing, that differentiates them.

just search Wikipedia for calibers that work with AR15 lower

If you have kids, try to get your hands on a PSA dedicated .22 AR upper. They are fun, cheap to shoot and make it easy to transition to another caliber on that same platform. I am assuming PSA still makes them??

@Dfreedom
Out of stock for the dedicated 22 uppers

They have been for a long time. Went with a BCA dedicated upper a few years ago. Have not any any problems other then the typical 22LR being dirty etc.

AR-15 .300AAC Blackout upper in 14.5" for a pin and weld for a suppressor.
Will this ever be a thing? I would like to see it in 1/5 twist.

1/5 twist is not a barrel that many companies make.

'specially in a barrel that long
