PSA AK-P Magpul Handstop Kit

Howdy all. My first post here. I recently ordered the Magpul M-Lok Handstop Kit for a PSA AK-P GF3. It comes in today and… three hours later… I still haven’t managed to figure out if it’s even compatible with the AK-P’s Magpul MOE AKM handguard. I’ve already attached a Magpul offset flashlight Mount with zero issues, and I know the handguard is an M-Lok compatible piece of furniture, but I’m wondering if I’m missing something after trying to figure out how to attach this new M-Lok Handstop kit.

I only have two small M-Lok “holes” at the six o’clock position of the handguard. And with this Handstop being, well, a Handstop kit, I want to mount it where my hand will actually be gripping the handguard.

I’ve searched YouTube and, so far at least, I haven’t found a single video showing a PSA AK-P GF3 with this Magpul M-Lok Handstop kit.

I know you can use the included adapter and snap off the two sections, but the issue isn’t the Handstop kit so much as it’s an issue with the MOE AKM handguard.

Am I missing something or is this M-Lok Handstop kit not actually compatible with the MOE AKM handguard?

first welcome aboard.

second, i know nothing of the akv as i hae an arv… that said, if you can include some photos of the bottom of the handguard as well as some photos of the hand stop kit on both sides, the part that locks into the mlok side and the side your hand resides on it will help me and maybe others get an idea on how to help.

another thing is have you tried to install it with the handguard off the gun?

just a thought.

As you can hopefully see, the kit needs at least three screws and bolts (m-lok) to ideally attach to the Magpul MOE AKM handguard.

My issue isn’t one regarding having difficulty attaching the m-lok parts; the problem is the limited space available on the handguard to mount the kit.

Taking the handguard off won’t help, as the problem involves the handguard’s design regarding where you can attach m-lok devices like vertical foregrips, bipods, etc.

Is it that the M-lok slots on the bottom arent wide enough for the nut to go into, or they aren’t long enough to accommodate the entire handstop? Sorry, it might be that I missed it because its Monday morning and the caffeine hasn’t kicked in yet. The Magpul Handguards on our AK’s are M-lok compatible, so they should work.

It looks like a lack of adequate real estate. It wants 3 slots to be happy. Have you tried to cheat it and just center it over the available slots and have 1 fastener per outer module? May not play nice if it has those raised flats to index on the absent slots, but short of breaking out the dremel and channeling my inner Bubba, thats the best I can come up with.

I posted a new pic and a reply to Josh but it said some bot was hiding my post and waiting for admin approval.

So here’s the Magpul MOE AKM handguard in one of its iterations. Not the one that comes on the PSA AK-P GF3.

Check out all the M-Lok slots. Plenty of room to mount whatever, wherever.

I am tempted to try to mount it with just two screws instead of three and see what happens. It’s about $23 and I’m not overly worried about having to buy a new one if this one doesn’t work.

My understanding is that you can use the individual pieces for 1 or 2 slots, or the larger base for 3 slot. It also should have come with additional mlok covers that can go elsewhere as desired depending on how many you use as a handstop.

I believe you’re right that there just isnt enough real estate for all three screws.

I do want to point out that the picture you posted is the Magpul MOE AK handguard, while the AK-P uses the AKM handguard. The main differences in the two are the cutout for the front sling loop, and unfortunately the lower m-lok slots only being 2 instead of 3.

this is my understanding as well. because the AK-v Mlok guard is too small and doesnt have 3 slots. so you should choose the individual little pieces that you want to use to stop your hand on the bottom and not use the 3 slot piece.

Both of the pics I posted of the actual Magpul M-Lok Handstop Kit show exactly what you get in the package. (Minus the screws and M-Lok “T Nuts”.)

And you’re right that I could mount the rear and/or the front handstops individually.

But mounting those two pieces so closely together and right in the middle of the handguard would defeat the entire purpose of the kit, as you wouldn’t be able to grip the handguard securely with those two handstops being so close together in the center. Even if you mounted just one of the handstops, it would also make using the grip nearly impossible, as you’d have the handstop right in the middle of your six o’clock position where your hand needs to be.

I hope that makes sense.

The only way to attach this Magpul M-Lok Handstop Kit to that specific Magpul MOE AKM handguard would be to use only two screws and M-Lok “T Nuts”, and I’m thinking that it wouldn’t least very long if mounted with just two of the three screws.

Agreed. I could try to mount using just two screws but I don’t think it would be secure and it would likely begin turning in place before long.

Im now looking at angled foregrips. I found one that looks promising and should help me get a tighter grip on the handguard and allow me to better pull the AK-P into my shoulder when firing.
