PSA 8.5 Pistol Length M-LOK Troubles

Hi fellers,

Been a while! Would love if someone could tell me if I am being a dummy or not.

Recently purchased a PSA 8.5" Pistol Legnth PA-15. (https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-8-5-pistol-length-5-56-nato-1-7-nitride-7-lightweight-hex-mlok-classic-sba5-pistol.html)

Went with the Magpul AFG2 angled foregrip ( Magpul AFG-2 - Angled Fore Grip )

Got the rail accessory… ( Magpul AFG-2® M-LOK® Adapter Rail, Model MAG594 )

But am having issues attaching the rail to the handguard. It seems a bit long and I can’t get it to secure, where the screw does not align.

Did I get the incorrect rail or something? I thought M-LOK accessories were fairly standard but maybe I am missing something.

Halllllllpppp…please! Thank you.

I’m thinking that the gas block is interfering with one of your attachment screws? I have had to grind the screw shorter for clearance on the short hand guards.

I’ll second this as the most likely. If you look into the M-LOK slot where the screws go for the AFG, see if the gas block is there. If so, either move the AFG around, or cut a screw short. Hopefully you can get it to work, but you really do not want to screws to touch the gas block or it will cause all sorts of weird accuracy issues from having a barrel with some load on it, as well as scratches and damage to the gas block itself. If you can’t move it around, then you might end having to get a different foregrip, unfortunately.

I had this same problem with mine , the 3rd mlok is smaller than the other two. I ordered the PSA 9" handguard for more hand room.

Wanted to add the gas block lines up with the center mlok , if you feel comfortable taking handguard off you could drill or cut out the room needed.

I think you are correct. I see that the third M-Lok slot is shorter.

Not much material but just enough to block the screw.

If gas block is interfering then you can buy shorter screw or file down the ones you have

Update: I appreciate everyone’s response!

I believe the gas block has nothing to do with it and for that, it’s my fault for not explaining it clear enough.

The issue I am running into is the afg2 rail adapter seems to be longer than my the actual mlok rail. One of the screws does not line up and overflows so I am curious if I can purchase a shorter rail adapter and I guess that will do the trick?

thank you!

See what @Coolwin1776 said I reckon.

You can always return the afg2 and the adaptor rail and just get the mlok version of the AFG.

As a potential alternative, I’ve found I like these AFG’s the best:

I added one of these (well, a pic rail version) to the side of the handguard on my VRF14… it helps make a short-barrel 12ga “hip shooter” into a “cheek gun”, without a punch in the teeth.
