10.5” with 12 inch slant mlok question

Just got 10.5 inch ar pistol with 12 “ slant mlok foreend and flash can. Standard mlok attachment screws are too long to attach something up front because the flash can blocks them. I remember seeing somewhere in the bowels of the Internet the type of screw and length that would allow mlok items to be attached but were short enough to not get stopped by the flash can. Anyone know by any chance what screw will work?

Thanks in advance

This would be good to know.

Personally in the past I’ve just cut mine down with a fine grit 4.5” flapper wheel in a grinder

Magpul sells shorter screws. I don’t know the thread pitch unfortunately.

From what I’ve seen the US manufactures use 8-32 or 10-24, with foreign manufacturers using 4 or 5mm.

I have no idea on the length, and unfortunately with metric, there’s many more thread pitches than Imperial.

I’d start with 8-32. A #10 screw is just too big from what I’ve seen.

Geez… I knew I saw a thread about it somewhere on the Internet before I posted my question… Oops

Thanks for attaching link :+1:t2:

I just put an MLOK bipod on my 243 Winchester.

The screws sort of straddled the gas block.

One screw, I used the cheapo Amazon MLOK screws I bought, NOT 10-24.

For the screws closer to the chamber, I used a 10-24, maybe a 1/2 inch long - using it with the cheapo Amazon nut.

It ran into the barrel, no good.

So now I’m looking for some 10-24 x 3/8 flat-head screws.
