Thought I’d pass this along. Got my 10 1/2 inch pistol with a 12 inch M lock rail and fluted flash can. Love the gun. As other people have noted there isn’t room to mount an M lok attachment on the rail over the flash can due to clearance issues. Thought about using extra short screws but the clearance is still so tight I think barrel whip would’ve smacked the backside of the Mlok attachment lugs.
After spending hours perusing different options I came across the Daniel defense pic rail offset flashlight mount. I mounted it on the top pic rail horizontally and it absolutely works perfectly.
however
On the standard Magpul back up iron sight the tabs on either side that you push down on to flip up the sight sit fairly wide. I had to grind down the tab on the side that the flashlight is mounted to give adequate clearance. Ymmv
you can try mounting the flashlight on the bottom of the rail ? and it should bring it right back to the side of your handguard leaving your front flip up with easy access, probably need a small M-LOK pic rail, just a thought?
I tried different options but mounting it on the bottom of the rail leaves virtually no room for a good grip. Since obviously we can’t put vertical grips it limits the flexibility we would have if we could add a vertical grip. Another nice thing about the placement the way it is is that it prevents from grabbing too far forward on the rail touching the flash can so it’s a de facto hand stop. I swapped out the sure fire for a stream light Polytac though so it could be slid further forward in the mount giving more room to grip as well as a strobe function
So rails that will work are ones that are advertised as “suppressor ready”. Midwest Ind., Griffen, Strike Ind., Aero, and Samson all make rails with a big ID so you can tuck the can.
