I bought the essential build kit and I cannot get the upper and lower receiver to come together. Has anyone else had this problem?
Did they go together before you built it? That looks like a Strike Industries rail. I use their Strike rail on my AR-V but did have to file some of the edges and tabs to get it to fit.
They did not go together before the build, I assumed it would be something my gunsmith would be able to figure out but no luck. And yes it is a SI handguard and it had to be filed down a little!
Post some pictures of the upper and lower. And can you describe “wont go together” a little better? Do they actually not fit together or do the takedown pins seem tight?
Looking again at your photo that appears to not be an AR-V upper because it has the boss for the dust cover, which an AR-V doesnt use.
You’re right after looking, they gave me the wrong upper
but the correct lower.
@Anthony_PSA or @sean.psa can help with that.
@PBIRBY7 I shot all of this over to CS for you this morning, they should be contacting you shortly to get this fixed up for you. Looks like someone may have just pulled a receiver from the wrong bin. We’ll get you squared away.
Thank you
Wait a minute, your gunsmith could’nt finger that out? I would find a new gunsmith bud!![]()
We both have never seen an AR-V and they dont supply any type of diagram or schematic. But what is funnier is that after talking with customer service, they sent me a regular AR-15 upper again…
At this point I want a refund or some free mags to go with the correct upper if they can get it right this time
Oh good grief…

“If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all…” – favorite Hee Haw song!
Wow, that’s crazy bud. They have come a long way, through growing pains, working out new platform issues through warranty work, but have always made everything right in the end. I think the problem is miscommunication on their part on your deal, that sucks due to time wasted but eventually they will right the wrong. That is a bummer.
@PBIRBY7 Sorry for the headache, sounds like someone either tossed in some AR-15 uppers into the ARV bin or reading comprehension has taken a sharper down turn than I realized. I’m gonna have someone send you the correct upper asap so you can get your build wrapped up. Check your PM for some more info.
Thanks
So finally after 3 weeks of back and forth calls and 2 incorrect uppers I finally received the correct one today! However, I’ve been faithful to PSA for the last 3 years, but I know longer trust the customer service department after multiple calls and emails. I asked to speak with a supervisor almost two weeks ago and would follow up with calls and emails every couple of days just to get this response:
In what industry are you denied speaking with a supervisor or a manager, when the company has been the one who messed up? @Anthony_PSA
