Some may recall that Friday I purchased a withering Mk12 SPR Project that someone had mated to an Anderson Lower with an A2 Rifle buttstock.
When I purchased the SPR I was focused on replicating the Army Special Forces Variant known as the Mod (H) after it’s proponent MSG Steve Holland of the 5th Special Forces Group Sniper Comittee.
That Anderson Lower was Replaced by a PSA M4A1 Lower and B5 SOPMOD Stock which both would be correct to this Mod if it were Full Auto capable.
Saturday I receive a call about a Retro Rifle being traded in , or Sold to one of my favorite Gun Shops. I head over and find a Colt A2 Upper with a New Green Mountain Barrel attached.
I was not keen on it’s Century Arms Lower with stock Carbine furniture and what I considered yer another questionable brand.
I was able to make a deal on the complete A2 Upper alone, while knowing I had an complete Anderson A2 Lower out of a job at home.
The Anderson was at best Wonky as heck on the SPR Upper…mated to the Colt A2 Upper it was a freak show of poor fitment , gaps and leteral rattles to beat all hell. Some well recall previous photos.
Today the PSA Meme M16A2 Lower arrived and this evening I completed a New Lower with a Mix of PSA and CMMG parts to get the A2 Replica on the right footing.
Honest assesment…the PSA Lower captures the desired look… Cures the issues with Huge Gaps regarding Upper to Lower fitment.
The issue of Lateral Racking is still slightly prevelent but the use of an Accu Wedge dampens that out nicely…something it did little for on the suspect Anderson Lower.
Included are Pics of the Mk12 SPR Mod (H) , tge M16A2 Retro Replica and an unemployed Anderson A2 Lower.
The Dark Photos with large illuminated Gaps is the Anderson Lower with Colt Upper
The photo with almost no Gap illuminated is the PSA M16A2 Lower assembled tonight.
I’ll let results speak and the readers to judge for themselves.
