PSA Mag Release Help

Anyone ever have trouble removing the mag release? Have built multiple rifles but never had an issue getting them to come off or to put in/change. I can spin it forever and no give so I’m not sure what the issue is unless they thread lock it or something. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The button should not spin because the lower will prevent it from spinning.

Sorry. The mag release itself won’t come off. The button doesn’t spin as it shouldn’t, I cant separate the parts as one normally could. Never had issues but on the new PSA lower I have it isn’t wanting to give

Post up some pics if you can.

Not able at the moment but this is what the problem is. This will not remove like it’s supposed to. I was planning on switching some parts out but that’s proving difficult. Never have I had such an odd problem with ARs or mag releases in general.

Can you post a pic of the one on your rifle giving you problems so that we can better diagnose your specific issue?

Are you spinning it the wrong way? If you bottom out the threads it won’t spin any more.

Haha no. I wish cus then that would be a simple fix. It’s literally never been a thing minus on my two newer PSA receivers. Not the end of the world if I can’t change them ever but I like options haha.

So thank you for the responses and input. Think I’ve determined it’s a defect. Sad thing is it was bought a month or two ago so probably nothing I can do PSA support wise. To the drawing board I go. Thanks again!

PSA stands by their products. Get ahold of CS and they will help you out.

If you need to then drill out the top part of the threaded rod where it actually goes through the mag release bar. Or you could do the reverse and drill out the mag release button itself. Those two parts are cheap and you are talking about replacing anyway. Are you saying that the threaded rod is spinning inside the mag release bar, it isn’t fixed in place?

It almost sounds like a section of the threads are stripped? This is a very weird issue. I am sincerely struggling to determine what could be causing this.

Might or might not work - but here’s a suggestion:
Push the button in as far as possible. Grip the other end (the bar?) - the piece in the photo you posted - with pliers and turn it, while pulling somewhat hard on it at the same time. If the threads in the button are stripped, perhaps this will force it to rethread the button and come out?

Unless - there is a metal, threaded part inside the plastic button - and the metal threaded part is spinning with the bar… Like trying to take off a bolt, and the nut is spinning with it.

Sorry, thank you all for the replies. The post slipped my mind. Ended up just drilling it out and replacing since I had spare parts anyway. Looked like the parts were defective and almost as if glued together. Was weird, never had such an issue with any AR ever.

Or use a Dremel just cut a slot. Customer support best answer I’ve seen.
