I know a lot of you have posted pictures in a lot other threads, thought there needed to be a place to showcase your master painting skills. these are the first ones I did.
I plan on doing a couple of more and wanted to get some ideas.
Looks good! A suggestion though…other than the mags, how are those guns marked for caliber (i.e. would a stranger know which mag goes with what gun?) Me personally, i make sure all mags match a specific gun/color.
5.56 black window pmags or tan pmags (have a black 5.56 and a fde 5.56)
300blk: UDE pmags and UDE lancers (guns have UDE furniture)
6.8spc (metal mags)
9mm (tan for colt style, ODG for my AR-V).
Etc…

as far as markings, it is on the barrel. I know by scope mount, grip and pic rail on one.
when I go to the range I unpack one gun at time that came out of its own case with the mags in the pouches of that case. I had thought about something on the dust cover just never got around to it.
there are only 5 people other than me that will ever fire any of my weapons and that is only when I am around. so I guess I never thought about a stranger.

Here’s my only rattle can job on my Bushmaster CAR15, with my wife’s identical rifle next to it. She didn’t want her’s painted.

What did you use/do to get that pattern?
With a little grey, green, and brown.
But yes, mainly white.

I did this a while back, and actually sold it too… it was originally my budget build, then became mywinter soldier budget build. its amazing what a rattle can or two can do when you just dont care too much… I used white and grey and this is the final results.

Okay, the 870 is my first go at it, so be gentle. I did my PA65 as well but thats just solid so I’m omitting it here. I’ll have a KS and fakelite mags to add here in a few days…

Good prep work, rattle cans, and pieces of natural sponge (of course high heat Texas summers help with cure times). There’s a good thread on arfcom that I used to have bookmarked, but you should be able to search engine it pretty easily. In a nutshell after prep:
Pretty much diagonally alternate your two lightest colors, ten minutes later spray color 2 on a sponge and dab it around (can’t stress enough that less is more, the above photo I didn’t know this and although I think turned out pretty well, is a bit busy for my liking–if it suits you knock yourself out and dab maybe 30-40% coverage) on color one stripes, alternate, let sit 10 minutes or so, then go with your next darkest dabbed here and there all over, then next next next if it applies. I went with the attached colors AND a Rust-Oleum army green. Let cure for instructed time to handle, then throw it in a hot non air-conditioned Texas garage in summer for 48+ hours if able. Put a couple coats of CLEAR MATTE on it if you’re going for function, satin/gloss clear for a safe queen or range toy if you so choose.
Edit/addition: foam earplug in the barrel, modeling clay for places in the upper you don’t want paint, and painters tape to cover any optics markings are your friends.

Some of my stuff…
Ive used, garnish and cut stencils out of cereal box type cardboard. Cold weather polymer stocks get slick. The teaxtured rock finish type paint fixes this.
If you get one you like, clear flat coat.

Edit to add:
8 or more years back Pastor Joe Fox did a rattle can vid on YouTube that I still direct people to. Tape off glass on optics and aperatures and posts on BIS. Also tape off exposed turret adjusters, lighted reticle knobs, ejection port (then pull tape, close dust cover to paint it).
