Oh yes. Did all of the steps. I think that maybe two plates got jammed in that channel during manufacture maybe. There are definitely two separate pieces of plastic plus the metal piece jammed in that channel.
Man I feel for you buddy. That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in a dagger. How many times have you watched YouTube and beat your head against the wall wondering why it want come out?
Exactly. I thought I had to be doing something wrong. No worries though. I have some dremmel cutting wheels being delivered today. It sould end up just fine. If not, maybe psa will help rectify the problem or ill just get a new slide.
@vanhonk
If you look at the breach face can you see the tip of the striker/aka firing pin sticking out?
The bottom slide in this image the firing pin/striker is forward, you can see the tip of the firing pin sticking out.
WOW. I have never seen anyone go to town on the slide back plate quite like that! While sometimes they can be a little tight, there is no reason you should have needed to resort to such extremes. At worst, make sure you’re depressing the striker sleeve using a punch in one hand, and then grab the slide back plate with a pair of needle nose plyers and pull.
What you have done here is not a warranty issue. As a CS rep I strongly advise against you going at this with a Dremel. At this point, what you have is a cosmetically messed up slide. If you use the Dremel, there is a good chance you could do more than cosmetic damage.
The rear slide plate is made up of two pieces: the polymer back plate itself, and the steel insert. The insert slides through the polymer back plate (it has a channel in it). What you have done is chip away at the outside half of the back plate.
Got it. The new plate is installed and all is well. The new one goes in and out normally.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
Still gotta wonder why the old one was such a bitc… um, er, so difficult.
Hey so happy to hear everything is working as it should now. Like @Spider1 said I still wonder why it was so difficult to remove the original ![]()
See if anything in here might help you out ![]()
You have to push in the spring on the right of the back plate while holding the firing pin in place. Use a thin but wide flathead and slowly wiggle it out from the top down while holding it in place. Helps if the firingpi is in the forward position.Replacement does not have a metalbar inside it, but mine slid right in!
I’m an idiot. I was on a micro post and had to log in and went to find it but found this post instead. But yeah. That bar is supposed to be in the factory backplate.
