Rear slide cover removal

I’m having a tough time getting my slide cover off. Ive seen the videos for the glock slides and it looks easy enough. I just don’t want to break anything. Is there anything different about dagger slide cover removal?

It’s pretty straight forward.

Make sure it’s unloaded. Double check.

Point in a safe direction and pull the trigger.
Pull the slide 1/2 inch to the rear.
Pull down on both sides of the slide lock.
Slide should slide off to the front.

I point the whole pistol down while doing these steps, it makes the slide easier to come off.

I think he means the rear cover. The square plastic thingy that everyone swaps with the cool sayings and pics.

I’ve never removed it and have no advice. So take it away “old man”

Old man y’all keep on @California_Refugee

To remove the rear cover plate on your Dagger -

Make sure the gun is unloaded. Double check.

Remove the slide from the frame.

Hold the slide with your thumb on the cover plate,

With any sturdy small straight tool (toothpick size) push down on the firing pin spring while your thumb is on the cover plate and slide the cover plate off with your thumb.

Your pushing down on the spring to relieve the pressure pushing on the cover plate.

I hope this made since. How about it @California_Refugee

It’s actually pretty easy. Keep your thumb over it as you remove the cover cuz there’s springs. Not bad but better to be careful.

I figured it was the same as the glock. I’m just having a time getting a good grip in that smooth cover. Thanks for the pictures.

A pocket knife might help.

I’ve had to use a small flathead driver on mine each time. It’s rather tight fitting. Not necessarily a bad thing though, just something to keep in mind.
Once moved slightly from it’s initial locked in spot, fingies should get it the rest of the way.

This is turning out to be the slide cover from heck. I’m in the process of wrecking it to get it out. I wasn’t expecting the flat metal bar sandwiched between the plastic.

Looks like a Krate, a utility knife?

I’ve never seen that. Will the metal piece slide out of the bottom? Maybe @mattbbb14 can help you out.

That sucker is wedged in there. I suppose ill have to dremmel it very very carefully

Nice!

It’s been my daily carry for quite a few years. You can see it’s very neglected but still works great.

Edit, something is being missed in the disassembly process.
Is the firing pin assembly still in the slide?

I’d definitely get in touch with customer service and try and send it back if you can.

I will second Jammo’s advice ^

Also, did you do steps 1 & 2 in this image?
