Removing pistol grip

Removing 1/4 nut from ar15 pistol grip. Nut & star washer are exposed in pistol grip, cannot find a 7/16" socket that will go over nut. How do you guys do this? NEVER had an AR pistol grip attached like this.

Is this a joke….or perhaps I’ve had a few too many IPA’s……but your not going to remove a 1/4” nut from the pistol grip…with a 7/16 socket. You will need either a 1/4” or a 7mm socket. Let us all know how it works out. Post a picture too.

Is it slotted for a Phillips or flat blade screwdriver, or have an internal hex for an Allen wrench?

That’s all I’ve ever seen…never a nut.

All I’ve ever seen is a flat head or Allen wrench. The lower itself is threaded so it is just a bolt, not a bolt+nut.

Well, this was amusing!

Partly (mostly!) because, this sounds reminiscent of something I would have done……

Can this stud be replaced with the normal hex/slotted bolt

Just unscrew it and you can put in a different one. Not sure why you would want to though.

I’m an appearance kind of guy, a big grabber bolt looks ugly compared to a rounded pan head torx head bolt, like my other rifle, you can see through the skeletonized aluminum replacement grip. Now it makes sense yes?

heck no… makes little to no sense… can’t believe you didn’t go with polymer… magpul moe can store batteries for your dot and hide your ugly bolt.

I’m resourceful enough to carry a spare battery in the range bag. Why would I want an ugly polymer grip when I can have a sexy electric blue skeletonized aluminum grip. That matches my buffer tube, hand guard, and forward assist. My son wants my black a2 grip to replace the ugly polymer FDE Magpul MOE with storage, and the standard black rear stock in black for the ugly Magpul FDE MOE rear stock. And sorry but your opinion about MY CHOICE FOR MY RIFLES means little to nothing to me. And this is the point where you stop pushing your opinions. Want to be helpful great, want to be ignorant and pushy, no thanks. Hope you have a great weekend.
