I haven’t had any luck finding a good comp for the Rock. Any one find and use one?
Here’s a post I found on Reddit regarding the HB Industries 5.7x28 rifle micro comp installed on a S&W 5.7.
“ So I went ahead and bought the HB industries “rifle” micro comp + thread protector for 5.7x28. This one is about an inch long and really not much bigger diameter than the barrel sleeve. This is exactly what I was looking for. It stays in place extremely tight. Still fits in my open and conceal carry holster just as easy. Conceal carry is exactly the same as when I had the thread protector. I also can notice the recoil difference. It feels the same except when the barrel starts to rise it feels like it almost hits a wall and stops rising at some point. This really allows me to snap back in on my target much faster. I’ve also noticed that ever since I put the micro comp on my accuracy is better and way more consistent. It makes me think the thread protector may have been messing with accuracy somehow.
I’m extremely satisfied. This small modification 100% fixes my thread protector issues, ( his protector would start unscrewing ) doesn’t make the gun noticeably heavier or harder to conceal, and increases performance by 10%-15% “
I have that exact comp on my Rock and it runs fine with it. I also have the shorter version on my 2 daggers and all good as well on them.
I tried the dark alley comp and discovered that it raised my point of impact by 4” and would start to unscrew unless I used blue loctite. No such problems with the HB Industries, which I also installed on my H&K USP 45 Compact and works fine as well.
It’s pretty common for a compensator to change the POI. Happened to me too. Most people, actually. If you’re running an RDS, dial it up.
No idea why it’s unscrewing for you. All I can say is it hasn’t do so on mine.

Just a heads up…be careful with ebay gun parts. I have seen many an account sell something and then disappear…and the item arrives and its junk/broken/cant be returned.

I would not buy solely based on that. If he said it fit, guaranteed, etc. Then maybe.
I have found it fits and works great.
According to his listing he offers a 30 day free return policy with excellent reviews for this model ( it fits the S&W 5.7 as well ) and a few negative reviews for his .45 and 9mm muzzle brakes and compensators regarding they’re failing to fit certain models of pistols or having their threads poorly machined.

I had a different idea in mind for a Rock comp. Because the 5.7 is such a mild recoiling cartridge but a very flashy and noisy one from a pistol, I wanted to find some sort of linear comp or blast shield to help tame the bark at an indoor range.
So far I’ve tried a linear compensator from Kaw Valley Precision: KVP Linear Comp — BLK - Kaw Valley Precision
And a KAK Micro Slimline which turned out to be comically huge on a handgun: Micro Slimline Flash Can - Muzzle Device for Enhanced Firearm Control
However, the KAK’s all aluminum construction coming in at a supposed 1.71oz still seems like it’s too heavy for the Rock. I had a jam after the sixth round. The Kaw comp weighs even more.
Does anyone have an idea for a lightweight and not overly huge muzzle device that would do the trick on a Rock? Otherwise I’ll look into the HB Industries micro next. Bonus points for having a device which doesn’t need to be timed!

Hey Kirk, could I trouble you with a question about your HBI comp?
I just got mine and noticed the bore diameter up front looked far bigger than 5.7mm. Looking closer, in very small writing along the back surface it says “5.56/7.62.”
I had made sure to order the 5.7mm one so I’m not sure why I ended up with one that has a .30 cal rating. Is yours like this, too? Please let me know!
I have two of them and mine have the same markings.
Because they consider this appropriate for a 5.56 it appears they consider it appropriate for the 5.7.
The KT Crafts muzzle device that bobbyjmestepey shows above and which he has a video showing him shooting does have a 5.7 diameter muzzle
I did see that the same was used for both 9mm and the 5.7 in the listing. I have a couple and I use them as thread protectors as much as anything on my daggers, M&P9, rock, etc. Even the longer “rifle” vs is same diameter
