I’m putting a Suarez Dark Alley comp on my Rock. It is reported to cut recoil up to 15% or so, perhaps more by some unscientific user reports. Now the Rock doesn’t have much recoil to speak of as it stands, but the comp is only fractionally longer than the thread protector that I have to use any way and 15% less is 15% less.
I put it on earlier but it changed my POI and I didn’t feel like re-zeroing my dot so I took it back off. But now I’m changing my DOT so I’ll have to re-zero any way.
I’ll try remember to snap a pic. Until then here’s a stock pic (except I bought the black).

My initial reaction to this was “what recoil?”

No argument with that.
It’s interesting that people who shoot the current raft of 5.7 pistols against each other always say that 1) none of them have much recoil to speak of and 2) the S&W has the least recoil.

Here’s a post I found on Reddit regarding the HB Industries 5.7x28 rifle micro comp installed on a S&W 5.7.
“ So I went ahead and bought the HB industries “rifle” micro comp + thread protector for 5.7x28. This one is about an inch long and really not much bigger diameter than the barrel sleeve. This is exactly what I was looking for. It stays in place extremely tight. Still fits in my open and conceal carry holster just as easy. Conceal carry is exactly the same as when I had the thread protector. I also can notice the recoil difference. It feels the same except when the barrel starts to rise it feels like it almost hits a wall and stops rising at some point. This really allows me to snap back in on my target much faster. I’ve also noticed that ever since I put the micro comp on my accuracy is better and way more consistent. It makes me think the thread protector may have been messing with accuracy somehow.
I’m extremely satisfied. This small modification 100% fixes my thread protector issues, ( his protector would start unscrewing ) doesn’t make the gun noticeably heavier or harder to conceal, and increases performance by 10%-15% “

I would have gotten one of these as they are on sale for $9.99. But shipping is $12.
A thread protector that reduces recoil by 15% Sounds good.

Does it make it any louder?
Most recoil compensators can. It directs some of the gas in a different direction; straight up instead of generally forward, which is closer to the shooter. I personally didn’t notice it being particularly louder but it probably is to some degree.
Linear Compensators direct the sound forward but increases rearward recoil.

I put one(9mm)
on one of my daggers instead of the thread protector and I like it.
Felt good shooting and looks better than the protector
I just finished putting a second one on the other dagger.
I will try on the rock as well, had not thought of that yet!
