Rock trigger reset problem

So, I received my rock a little while ago, and put 50 rounds through it. The trigger was very heavy. I took the advice of many online and dry fired afew hundred times (with snap caps) to smooth it out and lighten it up a bit. Now the trigger sometimes will not reset or I have a brief one second or so delay from the time I pulled the trigger until the firing pin goes forward. Any help would be appreciated before i send this back.

@mattbbb14 may can offer some guidance.

Thank you!

Unlike the Dagger (where you can make a couple of relatively simple adjustments regarding certain issues), the Rock isn’t really adjustable or tunable unless you really start to modify some components… Which I don’t recommend (mostly because if you mess up, the replacement parts aren’t yet available on the website). It sounds like you might be a good candidate for contacting CS (filling out the warranty repair form on the website). They would likely bring it in for inspection/repair and get you squared away.

OK, thanks. I will do that.

I am having the exact same issue , did you ever get it resolved and if so what was the resolve.

After a couple months, going back-and-forth with Palmetto State through emails, trying to get a return authorization, and I decided to just buy another lower, which had the same piece of garbage trigger. Needless to say i won’t be buying another one.

Optic mounted?

In my case it happens with or without optics mounted , but more
frequently with it mounted.

So sometimes the trigger doesn’t reset and sometimes it will reset after a brief delay?

On first blush, either the sear is fouled or obstructed or the firing pin channel is fouled or obstructed. But most likely it’s the sear. Clean the mechanism. If you don’t feel comfortable disassembling it then give it a good bath in an ultrasonic cleaner, run the trigger a few times (you’ll have to put the slide back on), then repeat. If you don’t have an ultra sonic cleaner then hold the frame upside down over a towel or something and liberally spray out the mechanism with your favorite cleaner & lube. Run the trigger a few times, then repeat three or four times.

In any case, the symptoms sound like something is binding the sear or sear-interface somewhere. It might just need lubed but it could be some sort of detritus got stuck in there. Maybe some plastic flashing, carbon fouling from shooting, or, heck, even a fleck of brass from a case or something.

I had one gun where a fragment of lead somehow got in the firing pin channel and blocked the firing pin from coming forward. Because of the way the block was designed, I couldn’t easily remove the firing pin; it was held in place with a tapered and barbed retaining pin. So I sent it back to the manufacturer for repair.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

If optics have been mounted, and, in mcdnd04’s case, happens with multiple frames, I’m curious if the firing pin housing has been deformed from the screws. There’s been cases reported with all holosuns using too long of screws that damages the plastic housing that makes the channel for the firing pin to slide in.

Hence, I asked about optics. I was wondering the same thing.
