Basically I paid $342.95 for the rock by ordering the rock & dagger frame combo + (1) 5.7 rock mag and slide. Went to pick up the frames today, got home, put the rock slide on the frame, cocked it, and dry fired… The trigger pull felt like it was 20lbs. did the same thing a about 3 more time and the trigger pull still felt the same, so i just took the slide off and didnt go pass that as far as disassembly goes. I put a few drops of lube on contact parts, put the slide back on, cocked, and pulled… Lo and behold the trigger felt like a glock trigger job with a very, very short reset
Welcome to the forum there’s been a number of people who have experienced the extremely heavy trigger pull problem out of the box, I have yet to see one that hasn’t self-corrected though.
The trigger in my Rock is odd. Dry firing on an empty chamber measures 6.5-7 lbs.
As soon as I picked up my frame yesterday, I slapped the slide on and hit the range.
The first shot of every mag had very light take up followed by a really strong wall. After the first shot, every other round of the mag had a decent pull.
Every reload was the same, first shot really strong wall and heavy pull, followed by a lighter pull there after.
The trigger magic happened around 500 clicks (some dry, some live) for me. Someone at the range suggested that trigger pull is inconsistent for striker fired pistols. The Rock being my first striker fired, it did seem a little weird at first, and it seemed that the trigger pull was lighter after the first shot if I slowly released the trigger until it reset. In other words, the reset trigger was lighter than the initial pull. With no real knowledge of striker fired workings, I don’t know how this can be but it’s less noticeable now than at first. Just to echo what everyone else in this thread has mentioned, just keep clicking and the trigger does get better.
So it is safe to dry fire few hundred times on empty chamber? Mine is real gritty feel to it and yeah not very consistent pull just from my finger test at the range, no scale.
Probably so. It seems to be a common issue with the Rock triggers. Seems I remember someone, @Rufus maybe? Suggested ultrasonic cleaning, and others have mentioned compressed air and a drop or two of lube.
Anyway, happy dry firing. If it’s like most, eventually it will smooth out to have a very nice pull.
Yeah I will keep at it, glad I searched and found the forums. I bought it as a companion to the Ruger LC Carbine (man talk about tac driver). Not the end of the world I can already feel a bit of more smoothness in the draw to the firing point after hundred or so dry pulls. But half the price of the Ruger 57 and SW I am still very pleased with the handgun. 3x cheaper than the creator FN, I still get a little twitchy finger with credit card on the original FN.
