Golden Rod. I’ve had it for decades and it still works. Attached to the bottom of one of the shelves.
I’ve wanted to use a golden rod or something similar but the problem for me is powering it. Locations of safes too far from an outlet. Having an extension cord running into a closet or across a room is not always the best option, nor a safe one.
I have used various sized desiccant packs over the years but I have found a good alternative to the packs you usually see.

I have one of these in the safe and whenever it needs recharging, I take it out for a day and plug it in. I have not had any issues with these and I have been using them for about 8 months now.

I use one of these to somewhat accurately see the humidity in my safe.
I use these in my truck, one under each seat. Even here where it’s humid they last 6 months or so before I have to microwave them dry. I imagine they would work in a safe even better without the humidity. For some reason I can’t copy the link.

I use those plug-in dessicant packs as well. Have for probably ten years now. Would I PREFER a heatrod? Yeah, youbetcha. But they work in a pinch.
100 year old house with dated wiring and very limited receptacles. Yeah…my options are limited without doing a renovation. I use them in a gun cabinet that I actually made myself and to my surprise, they actually work well for it. For a home or an area that has a lot of humidity, those plug and play ones are the ticket.
