Live in Tulsa. Used to bad weather
They say this hurricane season will be a bad one. Heh. I say every hurricane season is a bad one for someone. We just try to stay ready so we don’t have to have a midsummer night’s freakout.
No hail, no hail, no hail.
Thank you.
I talked to an estimator today. $800 to cut down a part of a Leyland Cypress that’s leaning against my house. I got up on the roof and tried and nope The Crip ain’t good for that kinda work anymore.
Tannerite…jk
@Rufus
It’s only 1/3 of the tree. LOL

yeah the hurricanes season has been said its gonna be horrible this year, and yeah you’re3 right it is always bad for someone. I do think that we’re overdue for being hit hard in SC though… Hugo was over 30 years ago, so its time for us to get smacked hard. I too pray for no hail at all, with all the cars i have in the driveway… i’d really love to have a 40x60 garage that i could put all these beautiful machines in, but alas i just dont have the $$$ for something like that.
as for the tree, yeah cutting down big ol trees that are even just 1/3 there is a y oung mans game. it is definately no9t something i can attempt to do anymore. sadly though there is a lot of money in cutting down treese these days so it wont be cheap for you at all.
The National Weather Service in Kentucky has issued a life threatening tornado emergency for Mortons Gap KY as a confirmed large, extremely violent tornado is on the ground doing catastrophic damage. Residents in the area should take shelter immediately, as this is a life-threatening situation.
I love trees. I love houses. I hate trees + houses. After Wilma, I became an extremist in this regard, seeing quite a few houses wrecked from catching a tree.
Not far from where I use to live.
Man we got hit again today. High winds, rain and quarter size hail. My brand new truck with 1200 miles on it has dents. And our power has been out for a few hours. Thankfully, no trees down this time.
i hate to hear that @ltrly … .hopefully no one was hurt this time around.
You could build that piecemeal with prefab concrete. Still costly, but in smaller bites. 4" walls and roof. Keep costs down by not gettin’ fancy with ceiling height.
Lean-To shape, park the tall stuff at the tall end. Don’t skimp on slab. Or the daddy-size shutters for the doors. The roof can help you capture a heap of rainwater if you’re into that kind of thing.
This actually sounds kinda fun to me, because I’m a weirdo.
yeah back in the day i’d probably be doing just that, however, i’d still have to get it passed and approved by the damn HOA, which means the pad alone i’d need to have approved by them first regardless on what i had planned to do on the inside of the pad. I dont know what the HOA would think of me putting in a 40x60 in my back yard. I by far have the biggest back yard / lot in the entire neighborhood, and the way i had the fence done in my yard when i first moved here was that i cut the back yard in half, largely did that because of all the trees that was still in the back yard beyond what they had sodded. now i’ve cleared almost all of that land behind my fence that is mine, so i have this big open area that a garage would look wonderful in for sure… so idk… if i hit the lotto maybe id do it… but then again if i ht the lotto, i doubt id be living in this house still too… ololololol.
Ah, HOAs. Bless their hearts.
