Any disadvantages to the AR short throw safeties? any recommendations for any particular safety?
I may be alone on this, but I put a crossbolt-style safety (google Elftmann speed safety) on one of my ARs and I absolutely love it. I think it’s a lot faster and easier to operate than the standard style.
I built an all FDE AR and used this safety (45 degrees). I really like it.

Here it is on my lower

up until recently all my ar15 safeties have all been standard 90* safety’s, either ambi or not. That said, I recently acquired a scar that has a 45* safety, and let me tell you the ease of operation on that 45* safety is much quicker to manipulate and seems even easier than the 90* so i think in my main go to ar’s im going to be swapping out my safetys in them to 45* safeties.

This is what I was saying I installed. It’s not a 45 degree safety, it’s an actual push button like a crossbolt. As I said, I personally think it’s a lot faster than thumbing a switch in one direction or another, it’s a simple bump in or bump out.
oh cool. how do you like it? im not sure if i’d be able to get used to it on my ar. it looks odd there… just cause im used to the others i suppose
If I was going to go cross bolt, I’m curious about the Hoffman Tactical Super Safety. I really just want to see how it works in person.
I totally missed the sale Aim Surplus had on the Timber Creek safeties shown a few posts up, they were blowing out all their TC products at big discounts but the safeties sold out before I could even get through check out. I did get a pair of TC Enforcer AR handguards for $29 each though!
seconded about the Hoffman Tactical Super Safety.
