While I love many things, my vote went for:
1.570
2. Switch
3. Micro Dagger .380
There is a lot of stuff there that people say they would get if built, but at the end of the day the majority of new and seasoned owners want what they can carry in this crazy world. Plus being able to build it how you want it continues to make PSA the most attractive option out there. In my opinion that’s the reality for most budget friendly seeking consumer.
I like the idea of the Emerge as it would give me the ability to buy a barreled upper receiver that i can drop in a 700 action stock of my choice without having to pay that brand premium
Love the Jakl 9 though it would be awesome if it was designed with a MP5 style bolt hold open to have a budget HK slap option
and im sure everyone is excited for the Sabre 11
the x9 is kinda ugly imo, id be looking more forward to the Vuk then id ever would the X9 in its current appearance, i hope it gets to looking better in the final prototype stages…
Sabre 11 looks fanstastic. Very difficult to choose the rest, but I’d have to choose the Lancet because who can turn down a more affordable .50 and then the PA22 because there are so many aftermarket options for the 10/22 but we’re stuck with only buying guns from Ruger. Those ARC 338 options are VERY tempting though as is the X9, but I probably wouldn’t get as much use out of them as the 22 and Sabre 11.
welcome aboard. thats a reat pistol choice there thats for sure… I think i want one pretty badd, that said, i had actually left the long photo there at the house for some reason.
welcome ot the fourms
welcome aboard sir!
that sounds interesting… welcome to the forums!!.
welcome aboard sir!
welcome to our forum! hope you hang around a while!!
you vote from the palmettostatearmory main page. however they may hve closed voting as it was only open throughout shot show. i believe. Welcome to the forums by the way!
I cannot find a way to vote this year, but am happy to state my favs in this forum.
SWCH - the frame looks slicker for sure. I thought for sure I couldn’t handle more dick teasing on this one, but man it looks even better than before (and the ODG one from last year looked GOOD). This newer gen grip just looks Wilson Combat p320 grip thin, which is a huge compliment and I’m salivating all over again.
570 semi-auto - wow, love that the bar is being raised so the same frame can work multiple different ways on a shotgun I was already excited about (I love PSA, and I’m never gonna buy one of them thar Italian shotguns, so this hits the right spot for me).
I didn’t see anything about the x57, which is what I WOULD vote for, given the chance. I know it got a lot of votes last year, so maybe there’s nothing new to say until it hits the market. The x9 doesn’t bring anything new to the table, since it seems like a Matador Arms upper clone.
TL;DR
I’m not sure if those micro dagger slides with the new style comp are possible to vote on, but that’s my 3rd vote if possible, or the x5.7, which also didn’t seem like it’s a voting possibility.
The Lancet seems super cool, but who the heck got time for that, really? Make the integrally suppressed version I just saw yesterday on ammoland, and you will get my attention back stat.
Now that I’ve had time to think about these guns for a while, I’d like to give some opinions. Mostly about changes I’d like to see before voting next year.
Jakl 2.0: I know this is being worked on no matter what, but it’s not that appealing as is. I personally like the idea of a more fitted proprietary lower, however I don’t think that’s going to help it sell. In its current state it’s less appealing to me anyway. If you go that, route please improve the controls a lot. I want to see a real bolt catch instead of just a bolt release. Look at stuff like the ADM UIC, Griffin Mk2, and Silencerco lowers. An ambi mag release is pretty much a must these days too. If you can’t give us all the best controls then just give us the ability to put it on any lower we want by giving enough of a cutout for the bolt catch ect. That’s a huge turn off for me on the JAKL 1.0. After being burned by how garbage the F5 stock is, it also makes me nervous having that stock mount integrated into the receiver. If that stock isn’t amazing, I’d prefer just to have a 1913 mount. Also please give the option of a fixed charging handle like on the 1.0. I’ve always hated folding charging handles.
Jakl Olcan: I am kinda in the middle when it comes to liking bullpups. I have a couple myself and know the pros and cons well. I want to like the Olcan, but it doesn’t do anything as is to make me consider buying it. What I’d like to see the most in a bullpup is enhanced controls. Bullpup conversion lowers always feel like an inferior afterthought when compared to a dedicated design. If you could make a forward mag release, then that alone would be pretty tempting to me. Ideally you design a better mag release and bolt release, and you’d have something that really stands out on the market. At a minimum do something better than a drop in ambi AR mag release and standard small bolt catch. Those are disappointing to me on normal rifles, let alone a bullpup where it’s far more important. Maybe design it around the Jakl 2.0 since weight usually ends up being more than it should for bullpups.
Jakl 9: Needs to be delayed blowback. Not much else to add. Delayed blowback PCCs have been showing up everywhere in recent years. This Shot Show alone had quite a few announced. A straight blowback Jakl is going to be inferior to its competition, and not even worth considering to us PCC fanboys. I’d really like to see and ambi bolt catch too.
Vuk: Sounds like you can’t decide between the modern Jakl style forward non reciprocating charging handle and the old school reciprocating charging handle on the right side of the bolt. I’d suggest an obvious compromise and put it on the left side of the bolt. That’s where modernized AKs have been trending towards and I love it. My Galil Ace charging handle is one of my favorites to use. Others have done it too like the AKV521, M+M M10X, and even modified AKs like Dissident Arms does. Just a few I can think of off the top of my head. As long as the charging handle isn’t too far forward like some, it’s not an issue. Those guns have given reciprocating charging handles an undeserved reputation as a whole. Others have said it but that open space behind the bolt does need to be covered up. Again you can look at guns like the Galil and AKV521 for inspiration.
Vuk 9: What I’ve listed for both the Jakl 9 and Vuk apply here.
X9: The only one here I’d take with or without improvements. Please keep the charging handle where it is instead of going with something like what the X5.7 has. Personally I’d prefer the ergonomics of it with Glock mags. I think almost everyone would prefer not to have to buy overpriced B&T mags though. Also seen too many off brand mags have issues to trust knockoffs.
