Sabre Lancet is the highest-priority pick for me. Aside from Serbu’s and a handful of other gunsmiths’ limited-runs, nobody ever thinks about shooting 50 BMG and so they relegate it to a military-only caliber. For the novelty alone the Lancet’s gotta be worth something, considering how established and prestigious the caliber is as a platform. Power to the people on that.
Most practical for sales – IMO – would be the semi-auto 570; lots of people swing towards the Berettas, the Benelli M4s (and their Turkish clones), or the M2 derivatives precisely because there aren’t that many options on the shotgun market aside from some gimmicky Turkish novelties. There’s a huge space in the shotgun market for people who want a modular shotgun system but are stuck with committing to systems that force users to stick with skeet / hunting types of furniture and sights or go the complete “tacticool” route with pistol-grips, shorter barrels and tube-mags, etc. Create and package an “all-in-one” or even seasonal accessory packages and people will be returning to PSA to buy more interchangeable barrels (rifled for slugs even!), more sights, more furniture, etc. That’s something that not even Stoeger nor neither of the two B’s strongly encourage. I really think PSA has a strong chance of dominating the shotgun market if we’re talking about economies of scale and forward-thinking.
Third and final choice would probably be the Emerge platform. R700 as a platform is outrageously expensive to get into for what should be a fairly simple rifle, precision-machining (or not) be damned. Bolt action is practically ban-proof and having a common bolt-action platform might inspire a lot of gunsmiths to create fancy new chassis systems / projects for the platform (COUGH SV-98 STOCK COUGH).
Got a bunch of dishonorable mentions below:
Micro-Dagger vs. SWCH vs. 2011…I’m not a particular fan of any of these handgun options because we’re hitting market saturation with different handgun niches.
- Kimber just put out a unicorn-level micro-compact, and .380 Beretta surpluses have been flooding the market. Not sure how much more the market can take before a customer decides that maybe 3-4 subcomps are good enough versus 5-7 subcomps that they don’t practice enough with. If PSA is iterating on the Dagger platform, aren’t they also risking cannibalized sales by developing the SWCH to fit different size and caliber needs? Speaking of which…
- Ruger put out the RXM alongside HS Produkt’s Echelon lineup, and SIG has already solidified their production capacity for their P320s and P365s for military and LE. SIG already has a partnership with Flux and the closest competitors for the holstered PDW is the MP9. The only way I can see the SWCH gain sales is to go above and beyond SIG’s offerings and give a VARIETY of chassis components to the same FCU, rather than make different FCUs for different chassis components (which depends on PSA making a VERY versatile and robust FCU in the first place). Very difficult ask, with a high risk of cannibalizing sales from the Micro-Dagger AND the X-9 AND the X-57, with not much of a direction to go off of other than “we could mod a Glock 19 clone to not do things that the Glock 17 has already done” (and I’m referring to the many, many braces and chassis systems that already exist for the Glock). Unless PSA wants to flex the full potential of the FCU (and I’m talking about being modular enough to build an AR-15-alternative around), hard pass.
- Heard a lot about 2011s, seen a lot of happy customers, but a 2011 is a 2011…and unless we’re getting Staccato C2-tier performance at Dagger price points (hell, Tisas 1911 price points), I don’t know if PSA entering the 2011 market is just going to cheapen the overall experience of owning and using a 2011. Which isn’t bad, but there’s going to be that many more people hunting for 2011 internals and kits and spare parts when they aren’t seeing C2-tier performance out of their 500$-700$ 2011 and decide to frankenstein it the way they do Turknellis (for which it is much more forgiving and cheap than tuning pistols).
I would have waited on and bought the 570, but I have a likely impending deadline of 9/1

I’m definitely looking forward to their 2011, Shotgun, and bolt gun. That said I definitely would like to see a .22 and .45 dagger. Even if they do a .45/10mm version I think it would be a little easier for them to start doing their 2011 in .45 if they already have the .45 barrels. I would definitely like a .22 dagger just to shoot more at the range ammo is not getting cheaper.

It is a concept. There is no way to give that info. Designs change and costs to manufacture change as well. People still gripe about the mp5 despite the market being flooded with cheap turkish mp5s.
The weird thing is some people don’t like Turkish pew pews beggars can’t be choosers.
