I’m looking to put an optic on my GF5. Any recommendations on which mounts work best? TIA
Kind of depends on where you want to put your optic and what kind of optic. If you’re doing a red dot, lots of options. If a scope, I’d go RS Regulate.

I have a Midwest industries mount that has worked well for me. Holds zero well even with me taking it off all to time for gun cleaning. With an AK you want the optic to be as low as possible for a good cheek weld. So it’s best to determine the optic first and then thread directly to the side mount.
I have also heard good things about RS Regulate and AK Master mounts.

I’m looking for a side mount for the Primary Arms SLx 2.5 Compact 2.5x32 Prism Scope… Which I haven’t bought yet.
With a prism scope (or any scope) you have limited eye relief so you are going to want a mount that is either “full length” or “rear biased”.

Rear-biased RS Regulate IMO. I have a red dot on my AK on the gas tube but will be changing over to a prism with the RS Regulate mount down the road.

I really like that optic. Will the side mount not work with it?
A side mount will still work with that optic. You just need to get a mount that allows the optic to be fixed near the stock within the eye relief range. I have the primary arms 1x prism on my Midwest industries mount with the full length picatinny rail and it works for me. Personally I like full length rails because they give me flexibility to mount red dots, magnifiers, prisms, and LPVO’s if I choose to switch things up.

I saw that you can mount to an AR carry handle, so I’m thinking I should be able to get pretty low with it.
Will the Zastava M70 yugo mount work on the PSAK Gen 5?
Iam pretty sure they are different.
Zastava / Yugo made AKs take a slightly different side optic mount.
PSA-AK47 takes the regular AKM side mount.
My only experience is with AKM series….and I know that a lot of the Yugo / Zastave parts are NOT interchangeable with the AKM.

Some of the best side mounts are built by RS-Regulate. They make specific side mounts for the Zastava family of guns. They cover everything from forward mounted RMR devices, LPVO and rear biased optical sights.
Most of the time they are sold out……Yes…they are that good.
That said…since there are fewer Zastava’s out there than AKM’s….you can probably still find and buy the side optic mount you like.
