My birthday is sneaking up and I am looking at the AK 100s selections.
Does anyone know the side scope mount brand? Any feedback about the mount? On the fence about a red dot mount on a dusk cover and it has been a few years shooting AKs and the side mount appears sturdier.
i use side mounts when they are on the rifles, but if the rifle has no side mount provision thats when i go for the dust cover mount.
I’d use a red dot personally on a side mount, probably a Midwest Industries Side mount, There are a lot out there, and many are better suited for one type of optic over the other. Do a little research on that and you should be good to go to choose the proper mount and optic.
The PSA AK 102 includes the side mount, and I was hoping someone knew the brand that comes with their rifles or had any experience with this mount. I am researching other mounts and comparing. Just some window shopping before spending some coins.
I have a 104. Same side mount that uses standard AKM pattern mounts like Soviet Arms, AK Master Mount and RS Regulate.
The issue is what optic you want. If you go with a red dot, it doesn’t matter. If you go with an ACOG or similar you need a rear bias mount for shorter eye relief.
Is it worth the upgrade over the PSA set up (dusk cover peep site AND side mounting optic setup? Not against spending an extra coins, if the setup is rock solid and holds zero.
The side scope mounts are generally tight with not much clearance for nothing underneath to touch, but the dusk cover.
This goes back to my original question about the brand or type of scope mount included.
No need to spend the coin if the included mounts (dusk cover rail or side mount) are gtg. Sorry, for the long winded replies.
‘Due to the varying dimensions of mounts on AK’s of many different origins, we only guarantee that Midwest Industries side rails will work with our rail mount.’**
