Sig Sauer Romeo 5

Im not sure about any of you other guys out there, but i feel like over the past two years or so ago roughly i’ve really abused the pricing of the sig Sauer Romeo 5 optic, to the point i happen to have more of the little buggers popping out of the woodwork than i know what to do with almost. kinda hillarious when i think about it but at the same time it helps me keep up with optic familliarity and ease of use when switching from weapon to weapon.

I am about to get another! I love the sight and you can’t beat the price! I only have 3 though right now, sounds like you have me beat!

Got two myself and will probably add a third at some point. Nice budget friendly sight.

Same here, two with another likely.

I posted my observations about the Romeo 5 red dot in another thread. There is a good torture test video on the Romeo 5 if you haven’t seen it in my post. I have bought 3 Sig Romeo 5 red dots and the Sig micro red dot magnifier for some recent builds for my friends.

Glad I got my Romeo 5s before the last round of price increases. Great sight for the price on any gun.

Which would you prefer, low or high mount?

I do absolute co witness on all my red dots. Most mounts will specify what type of witness you will get with your backup sights.

I saw a good youtube video explaining why someone would want the lower 1/3 mount instead of absolute cowitness.
Here is my take away.
I was able to sight in my iron sights at the range, then sight in my red dot - absolute cowitness - by lining it up with my iron sights. I liked that. I can flip down my rear sight now (front sight is an F sight, so it does not flip down) and use my red dot. I ignore the front post while using the red dot.

The guy who did the video about lower 1/3 explained that red dot shooting is for fast shooting - and if you have absolute cowitness, you might lose a fraction of a second, even subconsciously trying to line up your dot with your front sight - which is not needed.
I think my next build will have a flip up front sight as well - so I will do absolute cowitness, and just flip both iron sights down when not in use.

All of my AR have front and rear flip up backup sights. Having absolute co-witness is the way to go. Having a fixed front sight while running a red dot would aggravate me.

Kinda off topic as I don’t own a Romeo 5, but there’s something to be said for running lower 1/3. You can set one to be pretty dead nuts at say 0-200/300 then the other at a further distance.
