Slide finish changed?

I see the latest Daggers have a DLC finish on the slide instead of the Ceracote.
Why the change?
And which finish is superior for long term durability?

The finish is still Cerakote. The barrel is what is DLC coated.

Oh…I see.
Thanks for the clarification.

Are all the Daggers shipping now with the DLC coated barrel or just the ones described as such on the site?

I think we’re confusing DLC-coated barrels and slides.

All of the Dagger models have DLC-coated barrels.

There are three Daggers with Cerakoted slides … gray, sniper green, and flat dark earth. There is a Dagger with a black nitride slide (910115311) and a new Dagger with a DLC coated slide (910115111).

Here’s a comparison between the product descriptions for the black nitride (910115311) and DLC coated (910115111) models.

Ok…that is clear and concise. I thank you.
Do you speak officially for PSA or are you just a well informed Dagger aficionado?

Either way, I appreciate the information.

Nope. Just a PSA Dagger Fan.

By the way, the “black” suppressor-ready model (910145121) that dropped recently also has a DLC coated slide.

It’ll be interesting to see if PSA continues to offer the model with the black nitride slide (910115311). It hasn’t dropped in three weeks.

I did notice that.
I would guess probably not.

Do you happen to know the price of the new Dagger base model with the DLC coated slide (910115111)? I believe it has dropped once and, of course, was only available for a couple of minutes. I didn’t catch the price.

If it is the more plain one, ( not with all the extra goodies)…it was $299.99

Interesting! So the black nitride slide and DLC-coated slide are the same price. That’s good news!

Yes they are and did you see the DLC slide version popped up today in stock for like 5 minutes.
Wanted to grab that one too but my wallet couldn’t handle that on top of yesterday’s purchase…damn! LOL.

Yup. I even have proof.

And did you catch the extra bonus…free shipping!

@Josiah_PSA,

I have another Dagger slide finish question for you …

In this YouTube video circa May 15, 2020, Dusty says that the Dagger slide as it debuted at SHOT Show 2020 was black nitride finished, but the plan going forward was to apply PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) ceramic DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) on top of nitride. Is that what is now shipping in the way of a DLC slide? DLC on top of nitride?

And is the same true for the Cerakoted slides? Does PSA apply Cerakote on top of nitride? Or is the Cerakote applied directly to the stainless steel slide?

Thank you in advance for the information!

Thanks for asking that question and linking the video. I watched it in its entirety. Found it extremely interesting.
I will anxiously await the response from Josiah.

Both the DLC and Cerakote are applied over the gas nitride.

Thank you,

Josiah
