New DLC slide wear?

Hello, all. I bought a gray Dagger in October of last year. I’ve since gotten into red dots so I ordered an optic-cut upper (complete with threaded barrel and optic) during the Memorial Day sale. Just came in yesterday. This is a DLC coated slide.

After a dozen or so draws from the holster, I’m seeing more wear than my gray Cerekoted slide has after 7 months of use. Is this to be expected?

The DLC coating has more “tooth” where the Cerekote is smooth. I suspect that it’s just that toothiness wearing down to show shiny spots. It’s still back, just no longer matte in those wear areas. I’ve heard that DLC is superior ro Cerekote, so I guess I was just surprised to see this happening.

FWIW, I prefer the feel of the Cerekote to the nitride-like feel of the DLC. :man_shrugging:

I just got a new slide and red dot as well. I’m new to red dots on pistols and have to admit I haven’t drawn from holster yet. Just getting used to looking for a red dot not Iron Sights so far. I’ll try to watch and see once I and drawing.

Yep. My dagger slide (dlc) already has shiny spots in it. As does the 1911 i carried for years, and my FN509.

keep both eyes open, bring the dot to your eye dont chase after it, and use the backplate to aim with instead of some dorky 1/3irons when quickly drawing from your holster for immediate threat. (quick draw) if you trained a bunch of years on irons you still might not like it as much i can go either way but prefer regular irons.

its called petina, and guns look sexy with it.
