We have discussed Executive actions and registration in other threads, but here I would like to hear which organizations ya’ll recommend supporting.
I have been a NRA life member since the 80’s. I can’t really say that I am thrilled with them lately, but who else has their clout in D.C.?
Also on a local level in SC there are several groups. However some are attached to national organizations that are worthless.
So what are your thoughts?
Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, NSSF, and Gun Owners of America have all received my support. SAF donations can be done using Amazon Smile for all your purchases.
Palmetto Gun Rights disappears whenever things are quiet, but need a bunch of fundraising as soon as an antigunner is leading the country. Funds for which we don’t even see them apply to any fights on our state level.
GOA. I won’t give another dime to the NRA.
Great put. I do exactly that with Amazon Smile, my funds go to the Second Amendment Foundation.
Ditto.
When donating limited funds to an organization, I want to put them where I feel they will be used to create the strongest impact. GOA does just that.
Neither will I. It chaps my butt to think that my funds have gone into LaPierre’s and companies pockets, and NRA is off my list until he is gone. All of those overpaid district or state directors have to go as wel.
But what about local State groups, are any of them worthwhile?
We only have one that I can think of; Palmetto Gun Rights. They show up when it’s fundraising time, but are never heard from when it’s time to fight a battle. So no, not worthwhile.
In Virginia, the VCDL is a worthwhile group. They’ve got some active and intelligent membership. Too bad they’re now fighting against a worthless governor and legislature that’s controlled by anti-gunners as well.
I continue to be a member of the NRA, but I have also joined the GOA. Not all gun owners support the 2nd Amendment, but if you do support the 2nd you must join some organization to keep it.
Just joined GOA based off of this forum. Thanks.
Looks like GOA is highly recommended. I’ll have to give them a look. I’m always interested in giving to 2nd Amendment organizations but want to make sure my donations are going to to be effectively used to further the goals I believe are important.
South Carolina Carry has sent me several updates on pending legislations and seem to be pretty active. My sense is that they are a very small group.
IMO the best way to support local NRA entities is to join as a member and volunteer at a local NRA affiliated range. my local range also supports GOA, SAF, and FPC. the national and state NRA organizations need to clean house before they fall over.
Amen to that. They are acting like little children and everyone wants to do things their own way. So many have forgotten that the real fight is outside the NRA headquarters not inside it against each other.
