The gathering 2024

Sorry…i think min of 5 is what i heard. Its sadly been an ongoing issue for years.

Oh ok, yeah that would have been helpful having a few more. It does stink they dropped out last second. I’m honestly not sure how to even begin to brainstorm a way to fix that

My Brother would absolutely love that Orange. His favourite colour.

So much, I custom-built an AR in it for him, that he loves the snot out of.

The food situation was probably the worst part of the whole event. Aftrler dealing with the crazy wait time on Friday, we went to Bojangles Saturday morning and brought extra sausage biscuits for lunch. We hoofed it up the hill to my truck and had a quiet and peaceful lunch on the tailgate.

With that being said, this whole event was AWESOME! About a 6 hour drive for us but it turned out to be worth the drive. We’re already gameplanning next year on what we can do better or what to do differently.

I saw someone mention Dempsey’s Pizza so we checked it out Saturday for dinner. I don’t remember who it was but it was a solid recommendation. Good food and great service!.

We also stopped at the PSA store in Columbia on the way back. I didn’t realize the storefronts would vary alot from location to location. It makes sense that you would stock what would sell in that region. I had only been in the Charleston store before and it was vary different.

Greenville Store is my go to. Cola store is about an hour from me and I stop there regularly on my way to the coast just for a break. Myrtle Beach store is less than 30 minutes from where I stay down there. All three are different in SC.

Yeah. The food situation was rough. I ate at 3:30 PM because I caught a break in the line at the German food truck. That schnitzel sammich was slammin’!

I used to do trade shows, conferences, and vendor booths in my day job. “Quarter million dollar party planner.” :stuck_out_tongue: If anyone at PSA is taking suggestions, put QR codes on or next to your demo guns. This way instant gratification people like me can order one online at the event without depending on what I think I heard through my ear pro. Yeah, I actually had decent 5G cell service but forgot to check what my Google Fi was connected to. QR codes also takes pressure off the booth staff to answer arcane questions like “sumdude” pushed on the staff about the PSA Sabre models on the line during Saturday lunch cold range time.

I enjoyed the event overall. Looking forward to next year.

Does anyone know what rifle they had on the 300 yard range? It was at the Warne tent to the right of Sig.

it was great meeting you and hanging out. i had a blast with all the guys and gals we met, and was glad that we were all able to spend what time we had together!! the swag bags i thought were a great touch by PSA to give out to yall. I hope y’all enjoyed them!!! Thats awesome about the AK shooting!

ahahaha @Rufus i almost bought one of those pop tart mags myself. too cool.

is that mag follower bad? or are they junk mags? that doesnt look very reliable.

@PapaBearKnivesV2 well now im having to save some $, for the next time i visit you, lol, it was great seeing you though, thats a great picture of you with Stroup knives.

it was great seeing you too @mr.jeffdh !!! I think one of our mods had Luna the day before and had something bad with with they served yall were brave eating there. lol
Personally on saturday i only had the German Potato Salad, and it was amazing!!!
and man, seeing your whole family come is an inspiration!!! i wish my whole family could get into it and come to the gathering too… I hope they had a great time as I know i did.

i kinda agre with ya there.
i think next year we at the gathering need to try to get more food trucks to show up if possible.

on sunday most of us mods, had packed a lunch / snacks ourselves. Someone was supposed to bring biscuits on sunday Ahem @sean.psa AHem… but im not naming any names at all. @rufus leaving and coming back would be quicker, if it werent for that long walk to the parking lot and then trying to repark lol.

@GuitarGuy you’re right bout the food trucks backing out at the last minute and its a shame, i have a feeling that the ones that were there either sold out of the food, or very well could have, and made hand over fist in $$ cause they had a captive audience.

i dont know how many were supposed to show up but i do know the past 2 years ive been there, they’ve had scheduled more trucks than 3, and they dont turn up.

I can see your point about the cell reception, as many vendors use the cellular network to charge peoples cards. I’m surprised your t-mobile hot spot even worked. I have a verizon one, but with my verizon phone not working i figured it wouldnt have worked anyways. wow thats some serious commitment for a weekend event, there  but you’re dedicated thats for sure!!! Verizon was probably the worst cause it was the most carried i bet. everyone trying to jump on one network, and cant, cause of not enough network nodes or what ever.

that sounds right, but i could be wrong.

i’m so glad you enjoyed it!!! i’ll agree about the food trucks being the worst, even with all the rain!! having the bojangles was probably a killer decision. Im glad that the visit was worth the drive. I only had an hour ride, so it wasnt bad for us at all. I cant wait to see yall next year!!! maybe then we’ll do Dempsey’s pizza for dinner… it all depends. it was fun 2 years ago.

We did the same on friday!!! stopped at fernandina and spent some $$ there too… so it was a lot of fun for the whole day!! Yeah they do, the columbia store was the 2nd store they had in columbia, and i think the 3rd store they had ever… 1 being farrow road and 2 being possibly ridgeland /beaufort. 3 being fernandina, in columbia which is the flagship store… 4 then was greenville, 5 would be summerville 6would have been mount pleasant but its closed now 7 then would be Denver NC, 8 would be new Charleston 9 would be savannah, 10 would be myrtle beach, or so i think… .thats just off the top of my head and me getting side tracked. of course i left out the magnolia store that opened and closed fairly fast. but when summerville opened, they were kinda trying to make all stores look like summerville after that as a standardization. i dont know if theyve really been able to do that cause every store looks different to me for the most part. so i think they gave up on standardization. Check out Summerville when you get a chance. i love that stores variety.

@rufus Greenville is a great store. I have yet to go to Myrtle beach but from what i hear its a pretty busy place. I’ll make it there sooner or later.

@ncrooks89 Welcome to the forums Nick. i hope you have a great time here!!
i unfortunately dont know what that rifle was.

I’m gonna tey the mags but they’re not looking good so far. They did crack me up though.

We ate Luna’s on Friday and it was pretty good. I had the Cubana torta and it was a good take on that. Now…I dont think it was a 1-1/2 hour wait good.

On the drive back, we talked about our favorite and least favorite things along with some observations. One observation that we both had was Kimber was supposed to be in the bay with Taurus, Rossi and FDEWRKS(probably spelled it wrong). Did they just decide not to show up or did we miss them somehow?

i noticed the lack of kimber as well, and i think they just bailed and didnt show up. which is a shame. I would have loved to have had some kimber love there.

Welcome to the PSA community :us:
@ncrooks89

Did you get my message?!

it’s in my inbox. honestly i’ve been working on replies all afternoon here, and havent even made it to my mail box yet. I’ll get to it before tonights over i promise.

Thats a shame Kimber decided to bail if thats what happened.

Another observation I had was Beretta and Benelli shotguns. Both had a few of their tactical shotguns, the Beretta 1301 comes to mind instantly. Shooting clays with a tactical shotgun isn’t quite the best way to use that lol. I loved shooting clays out there but wish there was a better “target” for some of their shotguns like the 1301.

I may come off as a real Richard with some of my observations but I don’t think I am the only one with these thoughts. I had an absolute blast but I just want to give feedback that might help improve things for everyone involved.

My favorite tent was by far the H&R guys. They were awesome, would answer any oddball, off the wall questions I through at them AND the I loved every single thing they had on their table. I am hyped to see their stuff come back. My wallet and wife on the other hand are not as excited.

i agree on kimber.

I shot clays with the 1301 myself and had a blast doing it. .I shoulda picked up an over / under next, but i was already tired from that one shotgun so i sat it out from there on. Im just glad i got to try it. I like that shotgun alot and i can see adding one one day. it is an expensive rig though.

no please do bring the feedback thats what we need to make the gathering even better next time!

Mike & H&R is awesome. as you may or may not know he used to run/own Nodak Spud. So he has a real love for the retro stuff, and knows his stuff real good… im not sure who else was with him, but ive heard a lot of good things aobut him knowing his stuff and being helpful too. There is a good bit of H&R stuff out already, but more is coming all the time!!

I still think a “kids only” bay would be the BEST thing for the gathering. We all know how kids are, oh look a squirrel, so giving them an opportunity to feel a little more important and feel like they are wanted at an event like this. it’ll provide a good and positive outlook for parents that aren’t completely on board with the “gun thing” that their spouse drug them out to. It doesn’t even need to be an all day type thing. It could be a “class” type of thing. Set times throughout the day where you come and have some do a brief lesson and then you get to shoot a few from a 22
In order to move this industry forward, catering to adults only IS NOT the way. Children are our future in every aspect including guns

I didn’t even recognize Mike when I was at their tent, he was sitting down loading the mags every time I came by. I don’t remember the other guys names but they said that of course they all work for H&R but, they actually build everything you see on the table. The skinnier guy built all the A1s and I think the 603s, if memory serves right. I asked him about the LMG upper that was at Shot Show and apparently Mike overheard me ask it and quickly interjected himself into the conversation and said “there is no time table for it and their is no price point yet”. To me, that sounded like confirmation it is actually in the works.

One reason why the H&R tent was my favorite was because all of these guys were excited and enthusiastic the whole time. The amount of energy they had transferred over to the shooter and it showed. Like I said before, they were very knowledgeable on everything H&R.

One surprise was at the Beretta booth. I don’t know how many people saw it or got to use it but they had a revolver on their table at one point. It was an Olmi Armi or Armi Olmi in .357. A little heavier than I expected but it offset any of the felt recoil and muzzle rise. Their sales rep, Ethan Greer, said they are looking for feedback on it for possibly importing it to the states. Price point was about $1400.
