Thoughts on AR15 to22LR conversion kit

Ammo

From the CMMG website-
For best performance use a round style hammer as notched hammers can cause function issues and 36 grain plated nose bullets have proven to be the best choice for function.

I have the conversion bolt and magazines. It works well. As reliable as rimfire tends to be. Always concerned of effects on barrel.
If I were to do it over I would buy a dedicated 22lr upper. Not much more money.

I picked one up years ago on the 50% off bin. CMMG bravo I think. I bought a 10.5 upper on sale, as a dedicated set up I can throw on my PSA lower. Works well, eats anything “semi auto” rated, I use the cheap automatch ammo. I would like to set up a lower for this from the jackyl since the CMMG doesn’t need the buffer tube. I’m still reading and researching if it will fit. I’m hoping someone else here has done it?

i love the 22 conversions.
i have one with a six inch barrel and Sparrow suppressor upper that is a regular visitor upon my full auto.
i also have a dedicated one with a 16 inch barrel.
i shoot bulk ammo and it has worked fine for years but i have had a problem breaking firing pins. i would say it is not a problem for a semi gun, probably just the auto. recently it has been FTF after a fired rd so i rack it and the same happens till it gets down from 25 rds to 19 or 20 in the mag. i think this is a mag issue or another pin is broken. even broken it will work till it doesnt. CMMG sells the pins. i have asked my PSA store but it isnt a big need for costumers other than me i guess.
with permission from the parent, i have put many huge smiles on the kids that run across me at the range. its a blast. i wonder if this will work? see auto 22 here.

still makes me laugh, every time, even watching.
meet me at Philsons Range.

Awesome! I’m still deciding on .22lr upper vs. conversion kit.

Definitely get a dedicated barrel! 22 LR will spit lead particles and carbon…and it “will” clog up the gas port in the barrell. With the dedicated barrel…a clogged gas hole is no problem…just keep shooting. But it’s a problem if you’re going to use that barrell & gas system with 5.56. Not going to work if itsclogged up. With a dedicated 22 barrel…just have fun with it and scrub it later.

the upper shooting 22 in that video IS a conversion kit. the rail is brander
“DIAMONDHEAD USA”, it is 11.5 inches long, and after adding the upper receiver
ohh 19.5, the Sparrow suppressor is all but a quarter inch under the rail and is 5.5 inches. the barrel is so short the gas hole is blocked off under the threads, its 7 inches.
