so the topic of dedicated vs conversion 22lr came up a few weeks ago and it got me to thinking. I have a dedicated 22lr, (PSA lower, 3.5 lb PSA trigger and Bear Creek Arsenal upper 16" barrel 1:16 twist). I also have a PSA 16" 5.56 upper (1:7 twist) and lower with same trigger. I shot 10 round groups from a sled to take me out of the equation, CCI MINIMAG 40gr copper plated was the ammo, 25 yds was the distance.
That’s actually pretty good, when you consider the CMMG conversion kit is a tiny smooth-bore “barrel” shooting-into the forcing cone of another barrel, that has a grossly-fast twist rate for the velocity and weight of that projectile.
I have 2 of the dedicated PSA uppers and love them. The only mod I plan on making is switching out the dust cover so you can tell at a glance it is a .22 upper.
